We rented house number 1 for four days between August 15-18 for 11,156 SEK. This price included bedding, towels, and cleaning. The booking was made over the phone. Last year, we also stayed at Stora Frögården for four days and were satisfied. Our friends from Berlin, who rented house number 4 for the second year in a row, joined us for a few days, which worked out well. However, this year we were quite disappointed with our accommodation. Our complaints concern poor cleaning, lack of standard equipment, insufficient furnishings, poor service, and an overall sense that the price did not match what was offered. Cleanliness: Upon arrival, we noticed the bedroom windows were extremely dirty. The sofa bed, an uncomfortable futon that required cushions to sit on and watch TV, was also dirty, and there was dust hanging from the ceiling. Kitchen Equipment: Bedding and towels were missing, despite paying extra for them. There was no usable frying pan, and the kitchen was poorly equipped, lacking potholders, salad servers, essential utensils, and even a toaster. There was only one wooden cutting board. Furnishings: The accommodation lacked comfort and felt less inviting than even a basic hotel room. There was no proper sofa—just the uncomfortable futon that caused back pain after sitting for two hours. There was no armchair, only a dining table and four chairs. Lighting was limited to ceiling spotlights, with no ambient lighting, and there were no rugs. The bedroom had a double bed, two nightstands, and an extra chair, but the veranda lacked a dining table, unlike the other houses. This meant we couldn’t eat outside, despite the warm weather. In short, the furnishings were sparse, more akin to a budget hostel than a holiday home. Additionally, the house was only 35 square meters, and there was no lake view, despite this being promised online. Our friends stayed in a larger house, and we immediately noticed the stark difference in standard. Their house was twice the size, better furnished, better equipped, and had a large outdoor dining area with plenty of chairs and a lovely lake view. Despite this, the price difference was only 120 SEK per day. We complained about the lack of equipment and furnishings. On the final evening, one of the caretakers finally brought us the much-needed frying pan. When we raised our concerns about the house’s standard and pricing, the caretaker was initially polite but soon claimed it was our responsibility to have checked the website more carefully. Since we booked over the phone, we hadn’t done that. We found his attitude rude and unprofessional. We believe it’s the owner’s responsibility to ensure the house is properly equipped before renting it out. The caretaker promised to discuss our complaints with a colleague and get back to us, but this never happened. He ended the conversation by saying, "Don’t wear shoes indoors—the floor cost us 12,000 SEK." This was the same amount we paid for our stay. After that, he left,
