The Mariposa was our first stop on a 3 week vacation in Costa Rica and was the most economical lodging of the trip. We were not sure what to expect but were very happy with the accommodation. It was not fancy but was clean and well maintained. This a family run business and they do a top notch job. If you are on a budget e would,d definitely recommend the Mariposa.

Very beautiful property, very comfortable beds. it is a bit out of the way so you either have to drive to access food and shopping, or are you have to be willing to walk a lot! Although it was called a B&B on the website, there was no breakfast included. That was surprising and disappointing That is my only criticism. Otherwise, it was lovely.

This was a great place to stay! Esteban was very welcoming and helpful with anything that we needed. It was very beautiful and quaint. I had one of the best sleeps for our entire trip. Also very close to the biological preserve!

What a wonderful place to stay in Monteverde! This is a family-owned hotel, with comfortable, clean rooms that are quiet. The grounds are beautifully maintained and add to the calming a**osphere. The owners are especially kind and knowledgeable. It’s also a short drive to the Cloud Forest Reserve or the hustle and bustle of Santa Elena—but you’ll feel a world away in this quiet retreat. This is the place to stay!

It’s basic, with good hot water. I thought breakfast was included, but not. Has bare necessities. People are kind.

Lovely lodge at the edge of Monteverde, and close to the cloud forest reserve. There are trees surrounding the rooms. We saw monkeys and butterflies from our deck. Friendly hosts local to the area gave us good suggestions for activities. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the restaurant across the street - suggest going into town for something cheaper if you have time.

My husband and I stayed 3. Nights at this charming hotel. It is in walking distance to the Monteverde cloud forest. A good 20 minute walk but very convenient. The hotel staff, in particular Esteban, were very gracious and helpful. The room was basic but very clean and comfortable. We had a kitchenette as well as a lovely terrace with a hammock and a small bench. It overlooks lush greenery. Esteban was quick to help whenever we needed anything. Since the hotel is a 20-25 minute walk from the tiny town center, at Esteban’s suggestion, we took advantage of a food delivery so-called Monteverde en Casa.after long days of hiking, it was great to just eat in our little kitchen and get ready for the next day’s adventures. We would definitely stay here again.
