Round Hill Hotel & Villas

Round hill was amazing and exceeded our expectations! The resort was compact and easy to get around. The room was perfect and the shared spaces are beautiful. The service was mainly great - shout out to Larry and his crew at the pool bar - they were wonderful!! I think Jackie at breakfast may have been having a bad week but every single other person we encountered was great! The managers reception on Wed night was lovely. And the food, my husband can’t stop talking about it. Truly a give star experience. Our one thing for improvement would be a better wifi signal around the resort. Also complimentary sunscreen would be a nice touch. Yeah Mon!

Our family just returned from a four stay stay at Round Hill in one of the 3 Bedroom Signature Villas. All the villas appear to be privately owned and managed by the hotel. Our villa was just superb with top quality furnishings and artwork, panoramic views, incredible tropical landscaping and a beautiful pool, and our family loved it. It was fairly far, and uphill, to walk from the villa to the lobby/beach, but the bell staff would send carts and they were very prompt. We ended up spending a lot of our time hanging around the villa just enjoying the privacy and the views. Overall the resort has a "retro" vibe with B&W photos of famous guests over the years, and Ralph Lauren's influence is evident (he is a board member and villa owner) . We particularly enjoyed the complementary high tea each day at 4p,. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful and really embodied the Jamaica vibe. Our villa included breakfast made at the unit by the staff each day which was superb and really started the day off right. The food and beverage standards and prices are quite high, as one would expect for a resort of this caliber on a Caribbean island. The wine prices seemed especially high compared to what one would pay for the same bottles in the US. The restaurants in Montego Bay proper are very average, and the traffic in town is terrible, and the taxi prices are high, so we would not recommend going off property to eat, unless you are going to Sugar Mill at Half Moon, which unfortunately is on the opposite side of MoBay from Round Hill. Fortunately the F&B theme changed every night so the dining did not get repetitive. I would say the main negative of the resort would be the beach. It is adequate but not the idyllic white sand Caribbean beach that one might get other places, which is really out of their control. It sits in a cove and is a bit rocky with some seaweed and grass growing on the bottom. There is a coral reef right offshore which allows for nice snorkeling. The positive of the Round Hill beach is that it is private and restricted, so you don't get hawkers and other types walking by trying to sell you things like we've experienced other places (e.g. Baha Mar in the Bahamas), or having to worry about your stuff getting stolen. The infinity pool adjacent to the beach is quite nice. Overall our family loved it and we all agreed we would go back.

A beautiful setting and a beautiful property. Stayed here with family July 4-6 and really enjoyed our stay. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful and the staff really try to be helpful and deliver a food service. The gym is large and private and the beach is serene. Food quality is excellent. A couple of minor details - breakfast is supposed to start at 7am. However the service was late in getting started which was really inconvenient on the day as we had to travel out early. Also had a couple of housekeepers enter the room next door to our early one morning and begin a very loud and animated conversation which meant we could not sleep late on that day. There are just some finer points for the staff that at a resort of this quality the finer details are important. Food service needs to be on time and staff should be helpful without disturbing guests! Overall though this didn’t tarnish what was a great experience and we would come back again.

Round Hill is lovely and you can tell from being there it is a place families return again and again. Staff is fantastic and we enjoyed every interaction with each of them. Overall, there is a premium exacted at every turn, which we don't love. Staying at expensive places, you sort of know what you're getting into but here it felt a little bit extra...there are so many staff catering to you, which is nice but there is a definite air of expectation that you are tipping each one of them - AND there is a 10% tax and 18.5% gratuity on most everything...but staff will say that gets split amongst everyone so then tipping on top of that becomes routine. We were told that prices went up a little over a year ago and with what we spent for 1 week here, not sure we would go back when there are so many other wonderful options. What you get for the money perhaps feels a bit more 'in line' elsewhere, unless you had the sense of nostalgia for this place, which we do not.

I spent 3 days at Round Hill Hotel in Jamaica. Great location, close proximity from Montego Bay airport, but a world to itself. Words cannot describe the beauty of this very special hotel. If you are looking for an elevated and authentic Jamaican experience, Round Hill is your place. From the luxurious elegance of its rooms and villas, to the breathtaking lush gardens, tropical greenery and many beautiful beaches, Round Hill offers a very relaxing environment. Most importantly, the staff was exceptional. From the front desk to the restaurants they were all on point. Can't wait to get back to Round Hill. Roger Lord, Brooklyn, NY.

We just returned from a really enjoyable 4 night, 5 day trip to Round Hill. The staff, particularly Shelly, Burch, and Owen, were all very pleasant and helpful. The grounds are very well kept and beautiful, with great views of the Caribbean and sunsets. The food was well prepared and the drinks were delicious. We booked a 1 bedroom suite with a plunge pool, but the accommodations were more like a 1 bedroom villa with 3 floors and an amazing full size pool. The top floor consisted of the bedroom, ample closet space, a large full bath, and two large balconies - one overlooking the entrance and one overlooking the pool. The middle floor was the main entrance and living room with a full bath, closet space, and a large balcony overlooking the pool. The bottom floor was another large living space with a dinning table, kitchen, and full bath with an outdoor shower, and opened to the pool area. The entire space has a very open design that we really liked. We would have given Round Hill 5 stars except for one issue that was bothersome. We were told the previous guest took the key with them when they left and there was not an extra key. While we were able to lock the suite/villa while we were in it, (we thought) we were not able to lock it when we left to go to the beach or dinner. The reason I said we “thought” we could lock it while we were in it is because we realized the glass door to the outdoor shower either does not have a lock or we could not find it, and the internal locks we tried to use did not work. So, although we felt safe, there was some discomfort that the suite/villa could not be secured. Hopefully they will get those issues corrected because being able to secure the accommodations, while we are there and when we are out, is a minimum expectation. Other than that issue, we give Round Hill high marks. We had a great time and the people were great.
