Hotel Montebello

Whilst this hotel is modern and spacious I have to say I was disappointed in the overall experience here. From the abrupt attitude of the staff to the terrible mattress (I dare the staff to try sleeping on one) it will only receive a two star from me. We arrived on a very hot day only to be told that the air con could not be used. Something about council rules. There were no fans so we all struggled that night and had to leave our windows open which resulted in us being invaded with mosquitos! Funnily enough our air con was turned on the next day which was a huge relief. This hotel could be so much more as it has all the conveniences and amenities of a good hotel. We were part of a bus tour which this hotel seems to cater regularly to. The breakfast room was poorly laid out which meant chaos every morning with people struggling to get their food and sit comfortably to eat it. Both coffee machines were problematic and not working properly. Food in the restaurant for dinner was very average. The woman taking our orders was so abrupt and bossy it made for a stressful experience which did little for the appetite. I must say the room was spacious and the bathroom huge. I hope management read this and make an attempt to offer more.

Stayed here on Caldeiona Travel Treasures of Tuscany Tour. Really enjoyed this trip. Pick up was from Glasgow with some further pick up along the way. Our bus acted as a feeder bus until we got to Hull for the ferry after which we got to meet our travel companion properly. As this is a coach tour there were serval key points and parts to it. Which I reviewed under Caledonian We arrived Day 3 of the trip. travel through Switzerland into Italy. The scenery absolutely stunning. Again a few stops along the way to Monticetini Terne the spa town where we were staying. We arrived early evening staying at the Montebello Hotel. Check in was swift. Room was clean, spacious and regularly cleaned. There was a balcony with lovely views of the spa town and the Alto. Dinner night 1 was a set 4 course meal and a welcome drink. You will need to pay for drinks at this hotel. Water is €2.50 as is a pot of tea. The room has no tea or coffee making facilities so we had to go to the bar to get this. Night one at the hotel you Order from a short basic menu (very short) for day two. There is no vegan or vegetarian option on offer unless requested. One lady in our group did just this as she is vegetarian. Day 4 to 8 breakfast was basic, and the same every morning. Plank cakes, croissants, scrambled egg which seemed to be empty and boiled eggs that you could peel if you have an excess amount of time. I think there were some sausages. There is a museli and yoghurt. You do get juice and free tea/coffee here. Dinner was okay. The vegetarian lady was given a plate of cut up cheese for dinner and side veg. No I wish I was kidding. Day 5. Small cold breakfast as Very early start for Rome. This evening my husband and I went to one of the local restaurants near the hotel Ceros. Good service and reasonably priced. Day 6. A much needed free day. Rest and relaxation. So a wee walk around the town which has a spa, tram to the alto and markets. By this point I did start to feel that we were all more an annoyance to the hotel staff who were catering other larger groups. But if you don’t give people fluids for free they do then need you to go and get them some. Dinner this night was decided for you as it is Tuscan themed. I quite enjoyed it and was a nice way to end the trip. Day 8. Up early for breakfast and making our way home. Photos are views from the balcony in our room.

Quite frankly this has to be one of the terrible hotels I have ever stayed in for food and customer service, the food quite frankly was appalling, we had pork each evening cooked differently with the overcooked veg and greasy potatos, and am surprised that neither the kitchen or management questioned the amount of food uneaten and returned to the kitchen on a daily basis. The older waitress in the dning room was so rude and unhelpful, banging plates down and insistng that you keep your kmife for every course. l have visited Tuscany in the past and loved it. This trip was a gift for my sisters 70th birthday and was a huge disappointment to both of us. The hostility shown to us was totally unacceptable and the only reason I can come to is that we were on the Caledonian tour. I am submitting a seperate complaint to Caledonain Travel

poor service unhelpful staff everything seemed to be a bother for them,food must have been on a budget, worst Hotel i have stayed in, been going to Italy for over twenty years and have always found Italy to be a very friendly and welcoming place this lets it down. went with Caledonian Travel this Hotel was nothing like what was advertised on the web site Evening meal thrown on to the table waitress seem to have a problem with are party most people returned there food when offered something else it was just as bad , Breakfast was no better same every morning no hot food, Bedrooms where cold no heating only offered a blanket by the women at reception who was very rude and give no reason to why there was no heating , don,t know how this can be classed as three star, staff need a lot of customer service training.

Just home 5 nights at this hotel lovely staff and food spotless clean fresh towel each day lasts night was a themed night in the restaurant great food ,staff friendly and helpful continental breakfast but plenty of choice, 5 minutes walk to town centre and railway station

The hotels first impressions were good.all ground floor bar,restaurant and lounge were all nicely decorated. Unfortunately that ended with our room. First of all we had problems with our key .granted that might have been us but even one of the staff said there was a problem so who knows When we went down for dinner we went to three different tables and was told we couldn’t sit there because it was set for breakfast. As we were in a coach party we would have liked to sit with other diners but no, we were sent to a table on our own. There was no kettle in the room or tea and coffee.one of the guests told us we should ask for one ,which we did. When plugged in, it wouldn’t work and the room lights flashed every time we tried to push it in.Girl in reception came up to see and she then sent the cleaner to bring us another. She couldn’t get it to come on so went for another kettle. The third kettle did flash on briefly but after she had gone we tried but the only way we could get it to work was by holding the plug in to the socket till it boiled 😳also the lights in the room were flashing if we released our grip. We were told it was our travel plugs but the kettle was theirs so how they came to that conclusion I really don’t know. We asked for cups for our hot drinks and we’re given cardboard flimsy cups . We had to ask at the bar because the waitress in the restaurant wouldn’t give us pot ones. The food was disgusting most nights and lots of guests including myself couldn’t eat it . The waitress who served us ,who was English so no language barrier, banged our plates down in front of us every night. My friend doesn’t eat cheese and she told them this so was asked if she would like spag Bol, which she agreed to. When it arrived there was hardly any meat and the sauce was watered down. It looked disgusting and she couldn’t eat it. The last night we were there , there was a full on argument with the waitress and customers in the restaurant because so many of us sent the food back. My views on this hotel are, it’s the worst hotel for customer service. The hot food which is advertised on the website was non existent and one of the cakes they put out were there 3days on the trot. On one occasion I ordered a glass of water but was brought a large bottle and charged 2 euros for.I didn’t say anything, which with hindsight I should have but I dont like to complain.I left just over half of it and the next morning there it was next to the orange juice for customers breakfast. I wouldn’t recommend any one to stay there because as well as the food we were worried about the electric plugs.
