For a 4-star hotel, it unfortunately does not live up to expectations. We are a bit disappointed, even though some aspects work well. The breakfast is very good, and the hotel is both clean and tidy. The receptionists are generally friendly, but often seem more focused on their screens, phones, or conversations with colleagues than on the guests in front of them. The breakfast staff are helpful, but appear somewhat absent and rarely smile – which creates a rather cold atmosphere. Unfortunately, the coffee from the machine tastes really bad. During the first few days, we were served coffee from the barista machine, but suddenly we were told – in quite a sour manner – that this coffee costs extra. The lobby and breakfast area are cramped and small, and there is no garden or outdoor space to retreat to. If you want to find a quiet corner for yourself, there is simply nowhere to go. As someone who enjoys a morning swim, it’s also disappointing that the pool doesn’t open until 10 a.m. This feels like an unnecessarily limiting policy. The hotel is also located right next to a busy street, and there is a lot of noise in the evenings and at night – including horse-drawn carriages passing by with loud sounds. We have traveled extensively and stayed at many hotels around the world, so we feel we have a solid basis for comparison. The rooms feel uninviting – there is no decoration or personal touch, the bathrooms are very cramped, and overall the hotel appears somewhat worn and outdated.
