My husband and I stayed here for 1 night in the room named "Owl's Roost" before setting off on the Offa's Dyke trail. We were very impressed with the hospitality of the staff in particular and are not surprised at all to know that they won 4 in a Bed. Overall 5 stars just because the staff were fantastic, although there were a few downsides to the room that I'll list here in case they are dealbreakers for anyone. --- Room Itself: Each of the 8 rooms have a different woodland animal theme and are styled different. This review is for the Owl's Roost, which was a double bedroom. + A comfy and good sized room, particularly the restroom was a good size + The decor was very cute and kitsch. We definitely enjoyed it. + The bed and pillows were decently comfy + You get provided with fresh towels, slippers, eye mask, and earplugs + Shampoo, conditioner, and shower/bath gel provided + Both bath and shower were available + A beauty skylight above the bed + Complementary teas/coffees to make in room with a kettle - There was spotty reception for the TV, the signal was not great and kept jittering. The TV was effectively unusable - Walls are pretty thin, earplugs definitely useful The above 2 minuses aren't actually that big of a deal for us, the only thing that did actually concern us was that the room itself had no window or anything besides the skylight. They did provide us with a fan, but even with the fan ya'll it got HOT in there. We didn't really have an option to have fresh air and there was no AC or anything to simulate airflow. At the end, unfortunately neither of us had a great night's sleep. We still would definitely come back again just because of the service, but hindsight being 20/20 we would avoid the Owl''s Roost and go for a room that had a window that can open to get some airflow in. I can see this being important, especially in the middle of Summer. --- Customer Service: The main reason why, despite the tough night's sleep it still gets 5 stars from me and also has my loyalty to come back. My husband and I were planning to set off really early in the morning before the complementary breakfast starts at 8:30 AM. We told our host this and said that we'll probably have to skip breakfast because we are leaving before the kitchen opens. Rather than just saying "OK" and leaving it at that which is what most places would do, he said that he was going to get the kitchen to do our breakfast tonight with goodies that will last in the room through the night for us to eat in the morning. Ya'll we got a takeaway bag delivery in the evening beforehand with a delicious Pan Au Chocolat, Flapjack, and little jars of Strawberry Jam. We also got some takeaway cups for us to make ourselves coffees/teas in the morning to take with us. My husband and I were both thoroughly impressed with the kind hospitality we were shown and how the staff could've easily gotten away with letting us go without breakfast without any extra effort on their part.
