We stayed for one night at the Camp and regret for not booking two nights! We were a bit worried about sleeping in a tent but when we arrived at the camp and were met by Solomon and the lovely staff, all our worries disappeared. We had a super comfy bed and a lovely tent which was slightly old but very clean. We had all we could have wished for a romantic night with lovely three course barbecue dinner and a camp fire! The entire camp felt very secure and we felt that all staff were efficient, professional and friendly. The best part was the romantic atmosphere gazing at the stars, listening in the night, being surrounded by stunning nature, birds and wildlife. The next morning, after a tasty freshly cooked breakfast, Solomon gave us a walking tour of nature surrounding the camp and the gorgeous lake nearby.He is an experienced and personable guide who is very passionate about nature and can spot birds and small animals from 500 meters. His story telling and knowledge about Sri Lanka flora and fauna is very extensive. He showed us native birds and a chameleon that we could not see without the binoculars. We encountered the famous red back woodpecker, the giant squirrels, monitor lizards, wild rabbit and numerous beautiful water birds at the lake. We came across the traces of the elephants who pass around the camp during the night to get to the water in the lake. We learnt so much from Solomon and are so grateful for his informative tour and friendly service. We strongly recommend the Mahoora Tented Safari Camp to those visiting the Udawalawe National Park and would like to express our special thanks to Solomon and the team.

We had a memorable trip to udawalawe with our guide Solomon and driver Keri who showed us over 50 species of birds plus elephants crocodiles mongoose jackals turtles often in ares of the park where we saw no one else. Solomon’s clear identification and keris sharp eyes made the trip for us. Thank you both!!!!

We enjoyed the stay at the camp. It is off sensor so not to many People there. Dont be afraid of the dank, there is always staff around to help you natigate throug the camp. The food is absolute great . You did a safari 2 times together with naturalist Heshan, he know a lot about flora and fauna. We got also a free herbal footbath and small walk in the area.

The tented village is excellent. A real escape from life . Everyone is very friendly . We had a wonderful safari with Solomons . He was an excellent guide : very knowledgeable on the birds and animals . He took us on an interesting walk around the camp too . The food was delicious. They really looked after us . I would recommend it .

Its a very charming and peaceful place. If you are lookinf for some place to scape the city, thats the right place. If you have been to a big safari (i have), its completly different, its much smaller, but the piece made it worth. And Heshan, our guide, made ir very special. He knows everything about nature and birds…so we had lots of explanations about. He is very nice person and very caring person. Tks a lot, Heshan.

Mahoora Safari was an amazing experience, the team on site were so helpful and looked after us. They were really flexible with our ever changing arrival and departure times as we travelled across Sri Lanka and were planning each day as it came. There was plenty of food provided throughout the day and the catering team member we had was so attentive and friendly. Our tent had quite a few visitors (bugs and salamanders) but the team came to safely capture them and release outside the tent so we could sleep in peace. There were a number of gaps in the netting, but again once we had pointed these out, the team had them all stitched up before we stayed for our second night. The safari itself, we were lucky and saw around 20 elephants in a day, including lots of baby elephants which was really special. The elephants are friendly and not scared by the jeeps but a lot of jeeps will appear quickly if they are sighted. Solomons was our guide and he was extremely knowledgable of all the animals we saw in the park as well as his knowledge of Sri Lanka and its history. He is very passionate about his job and has excellent sight for spotting birds!

It was a beautiful experience even if it was just for one night. The staff was kind and competent. They were also very knowledgeable. The rooms were extremely spacious and comfortable and the food was great. We got lucky and had Solomon guide us for our morning safari and was extremely knowledgeable in the wildlife around. We also got really lucky and managed to see a full elephant crossing with the child.

If you are looking for an amazing wildlife experience, look no further. Mahoora Udawalawe camp went above and beyond to cater to all our needs and no request was too big or too small for them. We were met by Santosh who checked us in efficiently and was always contactable throughout our stay. All members of staff were so friendly and delightful. Always greeted us with a lovely smile. Our tend was amazing. We had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed the accommodation very much. These tents are far superior to a majority of similar camps we have stayed in other countries during our game drives. Dinner was served around a campfire which was a great experience. Meals were plated and brought to us straight from the kitchen. Food was of a high standard and very well presented. Most of all, a big thank you to the young man who served us and compliments to the chef for a great dining experience under the stars. We were accompanied on our game drives by Mr Solomons the naturalist. It was an exciting and a great experience. We were delighted to see so many elephants, a wide variety of birds and reptiles not forgetting a few large crocodiles. Mr Solomons knew exactly where to find them and parted with a great deal of information presenting it in fascinating detail. There was so much to see and thanks to Mr Solomons we were able to understand and appreciate the jungle and its ecosystems. He has a vast wealth of knowledge and experience which was very apparent. A true gentleman and an absolute genius. Great value for money and an experience delivered to a very high standard.

The location was a bit out of the way but it was a fantastic experience. We arrived and were greeted enthusiastically and shown around the site. One of the guides Heshan took us on a walk around and pointed out lots of the local nature and was very knowledgeable about all of the birds and plants that were in the area. He explained about the park and how the elephants were part of the ecosystem and ensured that we knew all about nature. The following day Heshan was our guide in the national park and once again demonstrated his outstanding knowledge of nature and the environment. Very impressed with the overall experience and would recommend this as part of any trip. The food at the camp and the picnic provided was excellent and very tasty.
