We spent 2 nights at VilaFoia. It's a lovely property in Monchique, surrounded by cork trees with gorgeous views. We stayed in the studio apar**ent which has nice views of the sunrise and sunset. Henk and Michel have done a wonderful job with the place in just a little over a year. Lots of little touches, such as the Salvador Dali tiles in the bathrooms, the Portugal paintings in the reception house, and the deck that is nicely interwoven around the trees. They make a fabulous full breakfast each morning which is a very nice perk. If you are heading to the mountains to escape life's every day stresses, this is your place.

Another relaxing week away from the Hussle of the coast , great accommodation , great views , fantastic local eateries , proper food , not mass produced , fantastic Biking , very good weather , great Hosts & Staff , great place to spend my Bday , and thank you for the cake

They sell this place as "a little paradise" and I thought this was exaggerated before we arrived. However it really is! Morning yoga with Angie was such a great experience we did it twice. Generally all the staff were obviously so happy to be working there that their "joie de vivre" was infectious. The outside jacuzzi was also fun and the nearby restaurants great value. The view from our room was breathtaking and even if the weather was not perfect, it did not matter. We loved this place.

A wonderful place to rest and relax for a few days. The staff are super friendly and accomodating. The rooms have a great view to the country side and surrounding areas. Will definitely recomend to family and friends.

Wonderful location, deep in the heart of the woodland around Monchique, lovely rooms with a great view, very nice freshly cooked breakfast with freshly squeezed OJ, made to order omelette /eggs, fruit, lovely selection of cheeses etc. Pool very nice with lots of loungers around. Very boutique feel, and extremely quite and peaceful. Bed super comfy with lovely linens, no fridge in the room, but there's a large guest area in the breakfast / garden area with a fridge. Good air con, and great bathroom / shower with really nice products. We loved it, but the ONLY downside is that they are a B&B and don't provide dinner, and it's a trek through dark lanes to the main road where there is a very, very good restaurant. Highly recommend, but plan for evening meal; we cheated and had a brilliant lunch at the restaurant on the main road, bought some wine, bread and cheese from the Intermarche supermarket in Monchique and had a meal on the very lovely balcony. Great for star gazing in the night, with the lovely smell of eucalyptus trees.

We were warmly greeted by staff and personnel who are clearly proud of Vilafoia and its surroundings. Very helpful in every aspect: finding/booking restaurants, arranging yoga lessons, tastings, guided (walking) tours, or any of the many other things to do in the surroundings. Henk and Michel did a great job in turning this place into an excellent B&B. The B&B location gives you a beautiful view which can as well be enjoined from the nice swimming pool or jacuzzi. We had room 9 which was very spacious, had a living space/kitchenette and a sleeping space. Bathroom with Rituals products and the kitchen had a large fridge and a Nespresso machine. From our balcony we could enjoy the beautiful view al the way to Portimão. High quality breakfast with fresh (warm) bread from the local bakker, everything you would expect from a decent breakfast and Nespresso coffee. And very important: we enjoyed breakfast everyday out on the terrace with again that magnificant view. During the day it’s possible to order small things from their “ pool menu” (like a toasty, fruit salade, etc) and around the clock you can get drinks, coffee/tea, crisps, nuts, etc from their well-stocked self-service fridge/station. Tip on an off-day: we grabbed a bottle of sparkling wine and enjoyed the experience from the hot jacuzzi! All in all a fantastic B&B experience. Thank you, Henk, Michel and team. We loveded our stay at Vila Foia. It is a very calm and relaxing place with a wonderful view. It has nature all arround and is good for a big walk. A hot water jacuzzi outdoor is fantastic to relax and see the wonderful view of Lagos, Alvor Portimão and most of all the sea!! The staff is very helpful. Nearbye, there are good places to have a tasty meal.

We stayed at Vilafoia in a studio apar**ent for a week during February. Our apar**ent, room 11 was set high in the grounds apart from the main building. It was very quiet at night. The accommodation was excellent, very clean, tidy and comfortable. The whole Vilafoia team were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend to fellow travellers who are looking for a base in the countryside for hiking, cycling or just relaxing by the pool. Congratulations to Henk, Michel and all the team for their great customer service and genuine care for guests.
