Tamarind Village Hotel Apartments

My stay at Tamarind was nothing short of fantastic. The rooms were beautifully designed, offering both comfort and luxury with stunning views of the surrounding area. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring every detail of my stay was perfect. The on-site amenities, including the pool and dining options, were top-notch, making it a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience. Whether you're looking for a getaway or a business stay, Tamarind offers a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. Highly recommended!

There are some real positives about this place. The location is brilliant. The views out onto the bay are outstanding. The pool area is spacious and very pretty. The linked restaurant is decent. Breakfast was good and service friendly. Some elements could however really be improved on. The furniture in our apartment was extremely dated. I don’t think it had been refreshed since the 1980’s. The cleaning could be improved, we had a dirty towel on arrival and hairs that didn’t belong to us left all over the floor. The gym again is very dated and smelt bad. The worst element of the trip though was our check in. Firstly our room wasn’t ready (we were told someone had been taken ill but noticed that other rooms were also not ready so I do wonder if we had been told a tall tale). We were told we could swap the room for an alternative and asked to have a look at the room. On viewing we realised a bed was missing. I raised the issue with Grace on reception who immediately suggested that we had made a mistake on the booking. She said no rooms on the property can take 7 people so the mistake could not have been made by Tamarind. We showed us the confirmation but she insisted we provide the email chain. We did this and it proved that we had been clear about the number of people in our party. Someone else on reception tried to help by saying ‘oh so you wanted a bed for everyone in the party’ - er yes, yes we did! Grace continued to argue that nothing could be done, after she had realised her mistake. We suggested they could provide an additional room and she said that this could not be done as they were fully booked. We spent 45 minutes sat there waiting for a solution to be found. Eventually Grace went to find the manager who advised we could move to another room which had a triple room set up in one of the bedrooms. I honestly think that the staff member simply wanted us to accept the smaller room, I assume us saying we would agree to put a child in with an adult so that she did not have to tell her supervisor what had happened. This suggests either a badly trained member of staff or a culture of fear in the organisation. Mistakes happen but how you fix it is what matters. And while we were eventually given a suitable (if dated!) room we were left waiting in reception for a long time with three small children and were unable to unpack/drop off our bags before we headed out on the city tour we had booked for the evening. Not one person apologised or tried to do something to make up for the inconvenience and unpleasant attitude.

The food was amazing with good service always with a smile. Everyday we returned it was a warm greeting. The rooms/apartments are beautiful and everyone is different with a fully fitted kitchen if you did not want to use the restaurant facilities

An absolutely lovely hotel in the middle of a chaotic city. Extremely friendly and professional staff, lovely pools and pool side bar, restaurant. The main restaurant is very pleasant with live music. The apartments are very clean, comfortable with all the amenities. The cost against the service you receive, quality of accommodation and very high standard of food makes this an absolute bargain!!! Only downside is the building is a little tired in places, though there is active renovations on going and it doesn’t detract from the experience you will have. Its location on the waterfront makes for delightful sunsets, though no clear access to beach, and that is fine as its lovely grounds and two pools are great.

The experience was top notch making me to want to visit the place come next year for either holiday or business. Would recommend it to anyone looking forward to visiting the Kenyan coast as it is worth everything. I really enjoyed the stay at the place. Good job from the management.

Probably one of the very best all round hotel experiences I’ve ever had… suite was stylish refined and spacious… the food is outstanding… the lobster was the the very best…. Most of all every member of the staff from start to finish were attentive with a level of authenticity that put us completely at ease…. A perfect venue for our travel through Mombasa
