a quiet hotel in Modena

Hotel Estense is located in the heart of Modena town walking distance from the Duomo and central shopping area. The rooms were comfortable albeit small, and basic amenities such as hot water and a kettle were provided. Breakfast was wholesome and tasty, and the staff was courteous. Would recommend this place for a comfortable stay in Modena.

Good location, about 10 min walk from railway station and 5 min walk to center many restaurants, museums and attrations. Basic accomodation, clean. Helpful staff. Good breakfast included in room rate. Would recommend for sure.

Conveniently located close to the train station & city centre. Unfortunately these are the only good point. Beds & pillows terrible, shower flooded & no blockout curtains in bathroom. Windows leaked water when rained. Very disappointed.

We stayed at this hotel with our to girls (11y + 8y). The room was very big, not very modern, but confortable with lot of space. Breakfast has a lot of variety and all the staff in this hotel is very friendly. Situated with 5-10 by foot from the center, but we loved it like this.

This hotel in good location on the edge of the old city. Our room large, light, quiet & comfortable. Good modern bathroom facilities. Breakfast magnificent with plenty of choice & top quality. All staff friendly & helpful. Unsecure wifi. Good value for money. Could do with more storage for clothes.

The breakfast was very good, the water pressure in the shower was very nice, the room was clean, the staff friendly and the location is excellent, close to the old town. However, we hardly slept at all, due to the typical Italian bed: hard mattress, thin pillows and no duvets, just a thin linen sheet and a plaid. I doubt that many people who haven't grown up with an Italian bed are comfortable sleeping under a thin sheet tucked in on three sides... thankfully, there were two extra pillows, otherwise we would probably not have slept at all. After two nights, we still had stiff necks and sore backs. I have stayed at privately owned lodging that offered nordic bedding in Italy, so I know it's possible. It would be most welcome if Italian hotels were to adopt that as well The bathroom is tiny, my 1m90 tall Partner hit his knees everywhere and he was only able to turn on the water in the shower by leaving the glass door open. Furthermore, our *********** confirmation said our room had a balcony, but we only had a small window in a corner. Due to that, the room git really warm during the night (at the end of April), and we couldn't leave the window open due to street noise. Finally, the walls are so thin I was able to listen to our next door neighbour's entire phone conversation, including what the person on the other end was saying ( they were most likely on speaker, but still.) I'm aware that's not easy to fix, but maybe signs asking guests to keep their voices down at night would help?

Das Hotel Estense liegt zentrumsnah, bietet einige Parkplätze auf dem Hof und relativ große Zimmer. Die Begrüßung durch den jungen Mann an der Rezeption war „von oben herab“ und äußerst pampig. Er machte nicht den Eindruck, dass er seinen Beruf liebt. Das uns zugeordnete Zimmer 401 ist absolut keine Empfehlung. Es ist zwar relativ groß, aber ziemlich lieblos eingerichtet. Was aber am meisten stört ist dieses maschinell ungleichmäßige Geräusch, das wahrscheinlich vom Fahrstuhl her stammt. Wenn Sie also in diesem Hotel übernachten möchten und man weist Ihnen das Zimmer 401 zu, bitten Sie um ein anderes Zimmer. Der Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel passte nicht zu der sehr schönen Stadt Modena.

L’hotel ha una ottima posizione trovandosi appena fuori dal centro storico (10 minuti a piedi). Inoltre ha piccolo cortile interno dove se si trova posto si può parcheggiare senza ulteriori costi. Per il resto è piuttosto datato ed un po’ triste. Discreta la colazione. Complessivamente accettabile.
