Fabulous experience. Came here Thursday early lunch time for the first time since it’s been under new ownership and I must say I am very impressed. Our waitress Kiera was excellent. She was super friendly and offering personal recommendations. She was the only server out front but that didn’t affect our experience at all. She was super chatty and happy to listen to us matter. The food itself was fantastic. The sausage and mash was perfection. The mash was so smooth and creamy and the sausages were cooked absolutely spot on. Excellent quality and Kiera told us they use a local butchers as well. Nice to see places getting their food locally instead of large companies who are cheap and poor quality. Definitely will be coming back

Fantastic, old and quirky establishment, but boy service and food , wow really good Thanks guys enjoyed it 💯👌. Great beers and larger on tap , excellent beer garden , nice relaxing atmosphere. In my humble opinion well worth a try and great value for money

It was a great meal in a great pub. Good service from the staff and a thoroughly tasty affair. The welcom was warm and we were given a choice of table. Once seated, we were given time to look through the menu and order. Food was served quickly and was just the right amount on each plate. The first course was divine and then moved onto second. Again served in good time with just the right amount on each plate. Will come back.

Heard a few good things about the food here so decided to give it a try but sadly it missed the mark. Wasn’t a great start when they had no record of our booking…despite us having confirmation. Food is over priced and not great. Sharing starters are really poor quality, small and unimaginative. Duck salad main was laughable….a few tiny shreds of duck, lots of watermelon and soggy salad. 12 hour lamb shoulder was tasty but so dry. We were offered complimentary drinks (some of which we were charged for!) and puddings. They were ok if you like shop bought meringue.

What a disappointment. Waited ages for our order to be taken and when the food arrived the green vegetables on the Sunday roast were overcooked, the plates were cold and the food not hot. Nobody came to ask if everything was satisfactory as they did not seem to have enough staff to cope with the customers they had booked in. Also the waiting staff were all very young and did not seem to have had any training or understanding on how to give an efficient service. Will not be returning.

Having made a booking for Friday evening, I unfortunately had to cancel due to my wife falling ill. I phoned them up in good time, they were very understanding and advised they would refund my £20 deposit immediately. I chased up the refund a few days later as it hadn’t arrived, to be told that they had decided not to refund the deposit. Of course if I knew this was the case, I would have taken a friend - or gone solo if I had to, £20 is a lot of money! All a bit shady, reading other review looks like they are struggling at the moment - but be careful with your deposits!!
