The Swan @Old Stratford

Tiny twin room, poor parking (not enough bays for the guests in the ‘pub’ and hotel guests, the ensuite shower gave a dribble of water, it’s set next door to a noisy busy road, but the biggest issue was that the room was so cold. During my stay the weather was above freezing, but cold and on my arrival to the room I immediately noticed it was ice cold, the old fashioned wall mounted space heater had not been put on and then took an age to warm up and didn’t provide much warmth. So I went to reception (the pub bar), I asked if there was a fan heater I could borrow because it was so cold, she said she’d find something and bring it to me. After an hour no one had contacted me and so I phoned reception and a different lady, nice and friendly, but I presume the cook (she smelt of chip fat) came up and her advice was to wait 30 mins and ensure the bathroom door was shut (it already was)! On pushing the issue about a fan heater she said she’d see what she could do, anyway nothing turned up. So if you want a comfy place in the winter avoid at all costs, possibly in the summer it may be bearable, but it’s pretty rough and ready (nite I’m no snob!).
