Extremely delusional experience, almost a crazy story where personnel rudeness transforms a coffee into a drama (today 5pm CET, Feb 3rd) As a premise, I am not a Cipriani member, but happened to me many times to stay at Cipriani with member friends. You have to know, that in Milan there is Cafe at the ground floor, normally more free, if not always free, to public (“door selection”) I entered as always, and the receptionist was absent. Waited for 10 min, always absent. Therefore, I asked for a table for 2 to the waiters. I got served very professionally some water as we ordered cafes; the place was completely empty. Before the coffees arrived, a blond lady (probably the receptionist that had been sleeping somewhere for 30 min) headed to our table asking in a very rude tone for our membership, we gently said we did not have but we asked the waiters and they allowed us in; besides, we had already ordered. Despite the order, and the place still empty, she forced us to leave in a way behind any form of decency. She kicked us out with rude tones, and by us meaning also some influential Arab friend, literally out of the room. I had dinners scheduled in Venice and London, that I will of course cancel; besides, will work my best to make sure that any person that asks how Cipriani is gets served a funny piece of this story. And the story is going to spread quickly. I understand and respect Cipriani is a private member club, but if you are not present at the reception, they allow us in, affluent client already order in an empty place, etc. it’s reasonable to treat them at least with respect and let them finish what they ordered, even because I was myself considering becoming a member. Cipriani really needs to train staff on how to respect customers if they care about having a few people on their green velvet sofas
