La Zambra Hotel

Really excellent hotel - exceeded expectations and staff were amazing. Great Facilities. Relaxed and very comfortable and setting was great. Rooms fab. Great Concierge and area is lovely. Very attentive staff. Would definitely go back again.

Third time here. First experience amazing, great rooms service excellent and very relaxing. Second visit ruined by some convention impossible to get a drink or eat at certain times because of overly important not paying for it ******. Manager was brilliant (now different) and said this will stop. Unfortunately it didn’t as this time got stuck with 40 odd people attending something taking over the bar in the evening and only 3 staff at bar and impossible to sit outside. Now it’s full of small kids and babies, breakfast is a noisy mess and kids touching the food, service here was wayward to say the least, and overly important I’ve got children parents who think alls fine plus the women wiping her kids **** on the sun lounger was disgusting and yes a toilet is available,and we weren’t alone in that. No idea what this place wants to be, a conference centre or a kindergarten. Shame the bloke walking around in a suit never asked how things were, definitely will not be returning and neither will the couple we were with, relaxing it’s not. P.S. not interested in what you reply is so don’t bother trying to justify it with the usual waffle and taking it on board cobblers

The hotel is beautiful, the service was great and breakfast was fantastic. My only complaint is that because the children's pool is not open, the area around the pool (which is supposed to be for children 12+) is full of children shouting and screaming which is not that relaxing.

Very nice design of common spaces, modern, airy, warm, inviting. Great service at the front desk, amazing breakfast included with our award stay. Room slightly oddly designed long, narrow and small, so the TV was on the side wall vs. bed. No space for desk or chair in the room but nice bar area plus balcony with table and built in seat. The location is great if one wants to play golf, use beautiful spa or sit at the pool. For sightseeing Marbella, Puerto Banus, Casares etc. it is bit out of the way, and not easily accessible from the motorway.

We stayed at La Zambra end of September and it has been the best experience I ever had. Amazing, modern, very clean, spacious rooms. The best bed ever (with a duvet, which I really appreciate). The airco is silent, which is a big plus. There is a turndown service. The food is very good. The breakfast has every you want and more. From fresh breads and pastries to all kinds of cold meats, cheeses, fruit, yoghurts, fresh pancakes, eggs, etc. You can order coffee's and tea's (no extra charge) and there are fresh juices and mimosa's (no extra charge). The gym has everything you need including an outside area for free training. The yoga session in the morning (no extra charge) is also lovely to join. (Make sure you make a reservation for this at the concierge.) We also booked a tennis lesson via concierge and the tennis teacher was very good and we learned a lot. The concierge service is very helpful and recommended us some really good restaurants nearby, and also helped us make a booking at the restaurants in the hotel for dinner. Service at the pool for drinks and lunch was very good and quality of food and drinks as well. There are enough sunbeds at the pool, which are very comfy. There is no reservering of sunbeds, which just allows people to come and go whenever they want. Highly recommend to stay here. 10/10. Also, the jasmin smell everywhere in the hotel just calms you down and brings you in the right holiday vibe.

I should say we had a lovely time generally but given the 5* reviews it certainly didn’t live up to our expectations. My main issue was breakfast. I had no idea what was going on and I don’t think the staff did either. Pot luck if you got served in 2 mins or 20 mins. Some days you’re offered coffee some not, sometimes it took 20 mins to arrive. Staff didn’t seem to have zones just headless chickens with no real management. The buffet spread was 3* not 5* and the food you could order off menu was the worst eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. We also ate in the same restaurant one night and the service was really poor, they kept forgetting about us, we were going to get pudding but after waiting for so long we just decided to settle up. The rooms were lovely, we got an upgrade which was great and daily room service was fab. The shower did go from hot to scolding but you got about 20 seconds of each so you learnt to manage it. Drinks and service in the pool bar were great, staff were lovely, friendly and attentive. The adults pool did have kids around which was a little annoying and all but 4 sets of sun loungers are on grass. Overall we had a nice time but the breakfast every morning was a real issue and should usually be the sign of a good hotel!
