Visiting Middelburg for a few days with my cousin we decided to book the Poorthuys which was a very good choice . The B&B is located near the old center of Middelburg and it was very easy to go different directions to explore this nice Province . The rooms and the beds were excellent , it is a very quiet area to have a great sleep and the breakfasts every morning were amazing , very well balanced and a touch different every day . The owner and her staf were welcoming and very pleasant and hands on helpful . We can really recommend 't Poorthuys and hope to be back one day

Excellent location, lovely rooms, friendly staff, wonderful breakfast in gorgeous breakfast room. Delightful walled garden in which it is a pleasure to have a cold drink, in the sun. Can’t guarantee the sun, but the proprietor was optimistic, so we share that optimism with all!!

We had a lovely stay in the hotel. The host welcomed us and also was very helpful in making our stay a pleasant one. The rooms are nice, comfortable and clean. Also the breakfast in the morning was a nice start of the day. Also it is nicely located in the city center in a beautiful area.

We spent three nights in this wonderful B&B within walking distance of everything worth seeing in Middelburg. The rooms are recently renovated and comfortably furnished. Janine the manager speaks fluent Dutch, English, and German, and she chose tasty pastries and bread from a local bakery, soft-boiled eggs, yogurt straight from a local farm, and local cheeses and deli meats for breakfast. The B&B rents bicycles for less than the bike rental place in town, and I rented one for the 5 km or so ride to Veere. Middelburg is loaded with 10 centuries of history yet is an active, lived-in town, unlike tourist-centric cities such as Brugge, and this B&B is the perfect place to see it from. When we travel I seek out privately-run small hotels and B&Bs, and occasionally find gems like this one. Well worth the visit.

Gastvrij B&B. Mooie locatie in het centrum. Alles is perfect. Sfeervol ingericht. Mooie schone kamer met badkamer. Iedere ochtend een ander ontbijt dat er heel goed uit ziet en smaakt, de dag begint al goed. Alle puntjes op de i zijn hier overal duidelijk aanwezig.

Wij hadden een suite geboekt om een weekendje te genieten van Zeeland. Middelburg leek ons de perfecte uitvalsbasis, en heb hiervoor dan B&B T Poorthuys geboekt. Wat een leuke B&B!! De kamer is super netjes, evenals de badkamer! Er valt eigelijk helemaal niets aan te merken! Het ontbijt is ook lekker en alles wordt vers geserveerd. Als je slecht te been bent, zou ik wel adviseren om dat bij de reservatie mee te geven! Wij hadden een kamer op de hoogste verdieping en het is zeker wat ‘moeilijker’ om die trappen te nemen. Je kan fietsen huren, maar aangezien wij elektrische fietsen wilden hebben wij ze ergens anders gehuurd.

In alles bijzonder professioneel en uiterst vriendelijk. Overnacht in een hele fijne kamer en met heerlijk ontbijt. Dit wordt onze vaste plek in het mooie Middelburg. En ook nog eens centraal gelegen: wat wil je nog meer!

Door slechte weersomstandigheden last minute om 21u pas gebeld om nog een kamer te reserveren voor die nacht. Dat was geen probleem en de kamer was helemaal netjes en lekker verwarmd tegen dat we er waren. Ook vroeger ontbijten dan normaal was geen probleem.
