Grand Forest Metsovo

Our stay at the Grand Forest Hotel in Metsovo was great. The hotel is beautifully designed, modern yet full of warmth, perfectly complementing the natural surroundings. The burning fireplace at the lobby was so beautiful and kept us warm in the cold weather. Our room was incredibly spacious, and the view of the mountains from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking. One of the highlights of our stay was the pool. We had a complimentary 30 minutes private appointment at the heated pool while overlooking the serene landscape. It was such a peaceful and rejuvenating experience. We also treated ourselves to a massage at their spa, and it was one of the most relaxing treatments we ever had—the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring.

We had beautiful 8 days of escapism in the grand forest hotel. The hotel is designed magnificently from the entrance lobby via the dining room and spa all the way to the room. The forest view is great and it is visible at all rooms. the welcome was very warm, friendly and polite. We were lucky to be upgraded in the room and we've got complementary spa services. The dining was superb. Breakfast was very rich and tasteful. The dinner was a true gourmet quality with very special plates - I would like to specially mention the fish plates. The grand Metsovo is possibly the most stunningly designed hotel my partner and I have stayed in. It was incredible just to escape the heat of the rest of Northern Greece. The junior suite was high standard and had a great terrace overlooking Metsovo. The staff were friendly and very helpful, giving us advice on things to do in the area, though sometimes the hotel felt a little bit too formal for us. The inventive cocktails and snacks in the lobby were a highlight. The pool has one of the best views of any hotel, but the outdoor and indoor pool water really needs a little more heating. It also feels strange to charge more to use the hamam, which is not comparable to other hotels.

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. The facilities they offered were excellent. The room was beautiful overlooking the mountains. The breakfast and dinners were very good. We made full use of the spa facilities after a full day out in the area and it was excellent. We will definitely revisit the place. Highly recommend this hotel.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! On December 7th we were on our way to Grand Forest Metsovo and we stopped at a local tourist information centre to use the washroom. When we came out 15 minutes later, our car had a broken window and all of our belongings, money and passports were stolen from the car. When I called Grand Forest Metsovo to tell them what happened, customer service representative replied "just come back tomorrow then". Then after cancelling reservation, another customer service agent emailed me to say they do not do refunds at all but can give me credit for 3 months. What kind of policy is that? Especially when it's not a busy season and most of the hotel was empty. This is not the level of service you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Bad management all around!

A wonderful hotel set in idyllic surroundings, encircled by forests giving awe-inspiring views across the mountains and valleys. This was the first time my wife and I travelled to the north of Greece and we are already planning a return trip, we loved it that much. We flew into Thessaloniki airport and drove the 2 and half hours drive to the hotel (it cost about €6 in tolls - very cheap). It's an easy drive with beautiful views mainly on a dual carriageway. You climb up a winding road to arrive at the hotel, greeted with mountain views and by a friendly team member, who welcomed us into the lobby. The aromas of a wood fire, large windows to absorb the views and a relaxed atmosphere, your shoulders immediately drop, knowing you have arrived in sanctuary. We spent three days pampering ourselves in the spa, eating great food in the restaurant and playing board games in the evening (Well UNO). I didn't want to leave! The rooms offered subtle opulence with even the little details taken care of. For a three-course meal, with a bottle of wine for 2 people, it was about €80, a very inexpensive price for the quality and service you receive. The Lamb was delicious. Spa treatments started from about €45 and went to about €130. My wife and I both had a couple of treatments during our stay and I am glad we did. It was food for the soul. We went during the off-season and it felt like we had the hotel to ourselves. The indoor pool was available from 6pm to all guests and you could book a slot in the day to enjoy it privately. Few things worth noting. It is more casual than you'd expect, so relax, enjoy the Greek hospitality and do not hesitate to wear your bathrobe around the hotel. Secondly, it's worth hiring a car to visit the local village and drive further afield, the roads are very easy and not particularly busy. Finally, we did the truffle hunting excursion. It was a wonderful day out walking with the ladies and their 3 dogs. They found so many truffles! The walk takes you through wonderful forests, down to the river bed and then is finished off by a beautiful meal back at their micro-farm. To finish this review, I would probably say it was the best hotel I've stayed at. I look forward to returning!
