We booked a room with a balcony and sea view. Make sure you select a balcony, we got a french balcony which is very small to enjoy it but other than that great service, and location, a private beach and rooms. I couldn't have asked for anything less.very relaxing and great place to stay on amalfi coast. 12 min from sorrento , 23 min from positano. Had a trip of my life. Definitely will come back

Personale gentile e disponibile, struttura con aree esterne appena ristrutturato e con piscina favolosa. Ci ritorneremo sicuramente.

We were allocated a room on same floor as reception facing the road. The room was clear but had an odd smell to it. Fan in bathroom didn’t work so needed to keep window open for ventilation, however we’re then dealing with noise and fumes from traffic. We tend to work on the basis as long as room clean and comfortable for the time you spend in it, it would be fine. Unfortunately not in this case, we couldn’t air towels or swim suits off, room smelt of damp. Final straw was toilet seat wasn’t correct shape for toilet and snapped nipping my leg. Asked reception if we could please be moved to an alternative room, for an extra cost we were relocated to a larger room on the roof, with a balcony and a sea view, this turned our stay around, had I known for extra I could get an upgraded room we would have done this at the start of our stay. Staff were friendly. Food was nice always something to choose from. Free transport available into Sorrento, easy to book up and plenty of time slots. Hotel was clean, spa area being renovated so closed, but we knew that at time of booking. Pool area clean, plenty of sun beds. Access to beach from pool patio area.

I would actually have given this hotel a zero rating if I could. This is the worst hotel I have stayed in over 40 years. The hotel is tired , old, rundown and worst of all dirty !!! The bathrooms in particular are suffering from a total lack of cleaning for years. We started in room 1003 which was an annex room, this room was totally ridiculous, filthy and in serious need of repair. Raised with the TUI rep who raised with management, they agreed to upgrade us to a balcony room but not until the next day, TUI rep did say surely this room will at least be clean, how wrong she was, bathroom was again filthy, we went straight up to reception and complained, this room was 330. The receptionist then showed my wife and I 3 further rooms all with the same or worse issues, while showing us the rooms we were asked not to take pictures or complain !!! We were given another room on the Monday, again the bathroom was not clean, room 226. TUI were going to move us if possible on the Tuesday evening, but there was a possible water shortage where they were going to move us to, so we reluctantly stayed. In total we lived out of our suitcases for the first 5 days of our holiday. In general the hotel was damp, rusty and poorly maintained, probably never been maintained in years or thoroughly cleaned. Outside there were electrical cables cut off and sticking out the ground. The food started off poor but did get better although not hot enough. The air conditioning vents were filthy. I could go on and on but in general TUI who appeared concerned and interested were not really and we are still trying to get suitable compensation. Tui are as much to blame as they are still giving this a 4T rating when at best it should be a 2T and certainly should not be dirty. Please take this review seriously and do not book this hotel.

Let’s give credit where it’s due the hotel staff are great attentive rooms are cleaned every day with fresh towels the reception area it lovely and the pool area is great cleaned every day. Now as I said the rooms are clean they are but also a bit dated but it lends to the Italian charm the beach has pebbles large and small also a little sand and the area becomes very busy on sat and Sunday as the locals also use it the stairs down are in need of a bit of tlc but are structurally sound and if you have mobility issues don’t even try the beach this now just leaves the food one word awful we tried twice to eat there as we were full board could not stand the smell of it even the bread rolls were stale the chef should be ashamed to call himself a chef I am not one but am sure I could do better then that and what food there was was also cold so we had to eat out every night which annoyed me not worth saying anything to hotel or tui rep what are they going to do but our holiday in Sorrento was lovely I would recommend it but not at this hotel unless they get a new chef

so we stayed in this hotel for 4 nigths. This was our worst experience ever having been travelled all over the world. The hotel reception is run down, the rooms do not have any facility. We stayed in a suite room and had to call them for tea and coffee kettle. We had pizza one night and trashed the box in the bin which was not cleared till the next night. We had to ourselves put it out the next night. The housekeeping does not clean the rooms and towels were left on the floor. The shuttle timings are totally off and runs only 4 times a day. We paid 50 euros per trip in a cab to Sorrento. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL EVEN IF U ARE LOOKING FOR BASIC LUXURY.

The hotel is beautiful and the service was excellent. The staff, couldn't do enough to please us and the food was very good. We would definitely go again. It's worth paying for a balcony because the views were so beautiful,all the family enjoyed their stay

Do not let the bad reviews of this hotel put you off - it really is great. The hotel is clean, stylish and well furnished. The reception, bar, pool and dining areas are all immaculate. The room (Superior Double with a balcony and sea view, number 206 in our case) was clean, functional, a good size and generally of a very good standard. Style of the room was traditional and characterful, do not expect modern beige/grey furnishings and fittings. We only had breakfast at the hotel, but there was a good choice of pastries, breads, fruits, cheeses meats, yoghurts and cooked breakfast options. All of a good quality. Access to the small private beach area via the steps is great and convenient. Just bring some beach footwear as it is a natural shingle beach. For access into Sorrento and back again, the shuttle bus runs approximately every 2 hours through the day starting at 9am. Just be sure to book the day before - we never had any issues with this, there was always availability. My (very small) criticism of the hotel is about the shuttle service though. The last shuttle to leave Sorrento is 18.00 or you have to wait until 22.40. I think a bus in between these 2 times is needed. But it's only a minor inconvenience as the local bus service is available, and very cheap, and drops you off less than a 5 minute walk away. The local bus is very good for getting to both Sorrento and the train station. The staff were always on hand to answer any questions we had and were always very helpful. There is a good selection of local restaurants along the beachfront, and some even do takeaway options for food and drinks. La Conca shack is also good for getting drinks and snacks during the day. The local shop is a bit of a hike up the stairs, but isn't too far to walk (10-15mins) - it's Italy everythings is up a set of stairs! Overall a great hotel, we really loved our time here - great room and hotel facilities, amazing view, good local restaurants, good location and travel services. We both struggled to understand why there are so many recent bad reviews - it just didn't make sense to us. Do not hesitate to book this hotel.

We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was excellent, the staff outstanding, in particular Gianmichele, Lello, Rafael, Enzo, Salvadore, Maria and Daniela. Thank you all for welcoming us and for making our holiday great.

Lovely hotel with great sea views, Very helpful and friendly reception staff, The girl who recently came back from Lisbon to join the team was exceptional, I think her name was Francesca. Nice rooms and helpful bar staff. Poor value buffet at restaurant.

After reading other reviews we went to Mar Alimuri Hotel with trepidation but we needn't have worried. If you want an ultra modern hotel this isn't for you. It is tired but in a good way as it has amazing Italian Decoration throughout, with iItalian tiled floors and elegant staircases. Staff were super helpful and friendly and only too willing to please. Our room was very large with sea view and balcony, which offered spectacular views of Naples bay, Sorrento and Versuvious both day and night with sunsets to die for. Our room was cleaned daily when towels were changed and tea and coffee replenished. We found the shuttle bus useful for travelling in and out of Sorrento enabling us to catch ferries to Capri etc. Pool was cleaned every night and there were lifeguards on hand for both pool and beach. Food for us was fine, but I can see why it may not be suitable for everyone. If you don't like pasta, of which there was always several dishes of each day, then you could be limited as there wasn't much choice with other options. We had booked all inclusive but we're advised this was no longer available and offered full board plus instead. We were very surprised that this entitled us to a bottle of water and bottle of wine with both lunch and dinner, and we're allowed to take back to room to enjoy on our balcony or drink in the bar. Entertainment wasn't great, consisting of a man playing keyboard and singing. We did expect a little better or different people on different nights which was a little disappointing. Our only complaint was there was no bathmat in shower which was dangerous for us being elderly, when requested they offered to give us another room which wouldn't have solved the problem and we didn't want to change as were happy with room we had. We got round this by using one of the small towels in the bath when showering. Also shower head wouldn't tighten, but we managed to keep that secure with sunbed towel peg. All in all we loved our stay at Mar Alimuri, you can see things do need updating but hopefully without loosing it's charm. I'm sure it will back to it's former glory in future and we hope we can return to see it.
