The Anew Resort Hazyview, has to have some of the most beautiful gardens of any hotel we have stayed in. It’s location gives guests a complete escape from their daily routine. Based on a Portuguese village, walkways and paths meander through the complex where the rooms and suites are found. Some have terraces and small gardens and once inside our suite we found it spacious and comfortable. The linen and pillows were first class, towels and toiletries plentiful and the room fridge, safe and tea making facility made the accommodation more than acceptable. The staff could not do enough for you and over our 2 week stay, we got to know them well. Odele, the General Manager, could not have made us more welcome, but we noticed that she found time to speak to all guests and even on occasions play with children on the lawns, throwing herself into their games, which for us was a pleasure to watch. The pool area is a delight surrounded by lush vegetation and there is a large children’s pool too. Overall, our stay was just what we needed after the hectic build up to Christmas and the hotels location is perfect for so many activities including safaris. Quad biking and archery are just two of the activities available on site, but just walking through the grounds is refreshing and often enlightening with a stunning array of flora. The food, whether it was a buffet meal or A la carte is wholesome and varied. We highly recommend a stay.

Arrived after dark but easy to find even in a thunderstorm. Once in the grounds went to the reception to book into our suit. Reception was not manned but duty manager arrived in a few minutes. No welcome drink or anything to make you feel special which for a 4 star luxury hotel and the fact that we had one of their biggest suits was a huge disappointment. Did not even get an escort to the hotel building where the suit was located, just given the key and directions and directions to another building where the dinner was served. There was no conciege service which is expected in a 4 star hotel at the cost these suits are charged at. We reserved a luxury suit in this hotel which was another disappointment. It look like a large standard room. TV was small and had limited channels. Had issues with the netspresso maker and called the reception. Confirmed someone would be there to assist in a few minutes, an hour later there was no-one. Would have expected bath robes for this level of hotel but had basic towels only. Overall, I was not impressed by the hotel suit or service. However the dining room, when we eventually found it in the dark, served amazing tasting though very expensive food considering what a similar restaurant in the city would charge for the same meal. I took the fillet and my partner took a burger. The fillet was very small (maybe 3 bites of a normal steak) considering the cost and the burger would have the better choice. The elderly server was very pleasant and friendly and professional. Did have one gripe about the dining room apart from the tables and chairs looking like they were out of a 2 start hotel dining room. It was off the main bar area so gets quite noisy if the other patrons have been drinking. Thankfully we stayed there only the one night and were gone the next morning. Checkout was like the checkin the night before, nothing done to make you feel welcome or a valued guest. Would have rather booked a second night at our next night stay which cost the same, was 5 star and went all out to make you feel special.

It was an excellent experience,the room was always nice and tidy and met our expertise. The service was also good.

This wasn't a hotel; it was an experience. From the moment we pulled up to the beautiful entrance, we heard so many birds on the tree lined road. This hotel has thought of everything. It had a colonial Spain charm in the outer buildings. Artwork and decor was superior. The bar and restaurant were the best in South Africa. Rooms were spacious and beautiful, as was the pool. However, the 'secret view' when you walked the grounds was on a whole different level. Breathtaking does not do the view justice. Just unbelievable flora and fauna. A true slice of the garden of Eden.
