If weather favours you, this will be one of the best experiences you can ever have in any hotel you will ever visit in your lifetime. There is nothing I could add more than what pictures already say, everything is as amazing as it looks! Dinner, View, Rooms are simply out of this world. The villas have all the possible comforts and it’s all super quiet. One can tell the staff really tries hard to be the best, but unfortunately I’ve found a couple of things that are almost unacceptable for a place which such (alleged) high standards: we chose the breakfast to be served at the villa and they completely ignored many of the items we chose (they ask guests to fill a sheet the night before). The breakfast itself is really below the standards anyway, be aware. Is not bad, just below the quality you'll find at dinner (which is amazing), and the level of the hotel itself, this is something they should really look into (without of course rising the tariffs!). When we had breakfast in the actual restaurant, the day after, the service was really slow. I later found out that what they do while you are having breakfast on your checkout day, is entering the rooms and taking all the items away from the minibar (which is very well stocked, btw). Now I personally didn't know how to take this thing, first hotel I see doing that. I mean, I can see the reason behind, but at the same time that made me feel uncomfortable. The pool could also do with a better cleaning. Is not filthy or anything, but then again is all about keeping those standards the hotel is set up to: the water was kind of cloudy ish, as strange as it might sound, it could have probably done with a bit more chlorine, hygene first! Apart from this, The Zarafa, for what it offers, is very good value for money (for foreign tourists! Is completely unaffordable for any average southafrican) and is totally worth at least a two night stay, and make sure you have plenty of time to stay IN and enjoy your villa instead of going around exploring all day! True paradise from the moment you drive into the complex where often Giraffes and Wildebeests are there to welcome you, to when you go to bed with the (at least for me) soothing sounds of frogs and crickets.
