The pool was packed with children.
The pigeons were everywhere and made it almost impossible to enjoy the food.
The food was mediocre.
The long was extremely clean, but the pool area was gross.
Overall wouldn’t go back again:(

First, let me say the staff here are what makes this hotel ! Truly wonderful service from the bartenders Felipe and Luis Hector, waiters like Williams, Jose Gerardo, Caesar Gonzalez and others. they all made our stay here a great one! They always went above and beyond! The food/buffet was good, we always found something we enjoyed, although as other posters noted weiners/hotdogs are a mainstay at breakfast, lunch and dinner! Our ocean view room was nice, beds were good, air conditioning worked, nice balcony ( no balconies at all on street view rooms) There was a very strong sewer odor in the room throughout our stay, I think from the bathroom drain, and the shower was HOT all the time, impossible to get any cool water, even at the sink. Even the water in the toilet was hot! That was strange! WiFi works well in rooms and even on the beach. They tell you at the front desk that you can only have the wifi on two devices per room, but we had it on 5, no issues during the whole two weeks. The hotel itself however needs improvement in many areas ! If you are looking for a quiet vacation spot this is not the place for you . The “BANDA” roaming the beach in groups of 6-9 with trumpets , tubas and drums from noon till about 6:30 p.m. (or later) destroys the atmosphere totally as they all use amplifiers to compete with each other in making the loudest racket possible. All the ocean view rooms are above the pool area and the noise making from there carries on until midnite or 2 a.m. most evenings. The beach chairs are all in very poor condition, many broken ones they still keep putting out every day, and quite uncomfortable. Covered in bird poop (never cleaned) and if you leave your chair for a few minutes there will likely be fresh poop on your towel when you get back. The hotel does nothing about the bird problem, there are hundreds, and poop is on everything. The beach itself is nice but not very clean, garbage and cigarette butts all over in the sand and not cleaned by hotel staff other than a bit of raking around 9 a.m. ish. The hotel is not “senior friendly “ with a lot of steps/stairs to navigate , even in the buffet and around the pool, need to be extremely careful not to trip and fall! The hotel is mainly used by Mexican families, lots of kids, very very few English speaking people at all. Staff here speak very little English, even the concierge at the Information desk - no English at all, not one word! Only a couple of the staff at the front desk speak a few words of English, they try to be helpful, but it can be difficult. We made the best of everything and enjoyed our stay, but not likely to chose this hotel in future. Star palace hotel, pacific palace, Luna palace are all sort of connected and they say you can use facilities in others too, but pacific palace is rooms only, star palace exact same buffet, we didn’t go into Luna palace so not sure there. Nightly shows are kinda non-existent. Never found one, no info.

The main needs of this vacation were beach, sand, pool, drinks, food. This fit the bill as the cheapest, direct flight for both my wife and I from BC and my brother and his wife from SK. A RIU this resort is NOT but we knew that going in. We knew the food would not be great, it isn't in the buffet. It's adequate for one visit maybe two but after that too limited and too repetitive. We chose instead to visit one of the smaller restaurants and either the Luna, Pacific Tower or Star Palace from breakfasts and select one of the dinner options each evening. Through that dining experience which was good we met Ramon. What an exceptionally pleasant, knowledgeable, hardworking and catering man. We asked to use the one dining room that was closed to play cards in. It was hard to find a quiet place to get away for that kind of activity. He said absolutely and turned the lights on for us and even asked us what we would like to drink. He even made the drinks, which were all exceptional, himself. Each evening then we asked for dinner that would take us to Ramon. He gave us special treatment and made us very welcome each evening for dinner and our card games. He served us drinks through the evening even while he was managing the dinners. The last evening he made me a dirty martini that was very excellent. Four olives!! If we were to decide to go here again we would choose the Luna Palace to stay in as it is a bit more laid back, nice pool and quieter. Not fault of the hotel but bands play on the beach and are extremely loud. The hotel was also fully booked with local families and associations or teams so very busy. We never were able to use the main pool but the Pacific pool was a good alternative and we stayed on the beach under a Palapa.

We had a wonderful stay at the Oceano Palace Beach Hotel based on the help of Eduardo Ayala and Daniel Nava at the reception desk helping us get situated in our lovely rooms. They have three variations of ceviche ….each is divine (one order can feed 3 people) with totally fresh fish. Everyone at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. The hotel has wonderful ocean views and is honoring of the Mexican culture. This is not the sterile Americanized hotel ambiance so you can get actually get a sense of being in Mexico.

Spend the extra couple of hundred dollars as stay ANYWHERE else. The Pros. Staff is friendly although handle very few issues satisfactorily. Booze is plentiful. The Cons (and only a few of them) Two elevators and one was broken all week. Wait times were half hour. Food is absolutely awful. The food on the buffet is unrecognizable or cut up so finally you can only put it in a taco. No carving station. No full piece of meat all week. Lots of refried beans (puke). Hot Dogs seventeen different ways!! Gotta give that nine year old Chef Kudos LOL. There are three A la Cartes. One is a two and half hour supper "experience". Painful. Terrible food and worse entertainment. The Pelican resets every three nights. I haven't witnessed a NY Strip Roast that was so horrendously overcooked!! Quite a feat!! Tried the fish two different times - inedible. I have eaten Icelandic Flat Fish that had more moisture!! That band that belts out on the beach needs to be terminated. So loud So bad. Sounds like the UofS College Nine when they were too drunk to stand LOL. Pool is saturated with children, dirt, empty cups and fine film of ooze on the top of the water. The crowning glory was when we checked out at 11am but our airport shuttle did not pick us up til 3. They cut off our wrist bands and we had NO FOOD OR BEVERAGE privilege's. Very classy. I have travelled lots and I have wrote very few reviews but this trip deserved it. Loud, terrible food and no effort to fix any of it - although that is Mexican way. Like a said spend an extra bit and stay somewhere else Mazatlan is worth the trip.

AC vents wafting other people’s fecal odours into your room Overcrowded pools Terrible food, no choice Beach ‘bandas’ incessant noise - not music!! No entertainment. Poor management- checking in almost 1200 guests in one morning- total chaos. Despite hotel literature advising all inclusive guests could use facilities of sister hotels, staff not welcoming and, at one point, asking us to leave. All in all, very poor experience. We will not return to this chain of hotels. Mazatlan however is lovely.

I have been going to Mexico for over 30 years. I have stayed at old resorts, new resorts, good resorts and bad. Oceano Palace has to be the worst resort I have stayed at. When we checked in, they upgraded us to the Pacific Tower. Nice room, beautiful views. Beds were extremely uncomfortable, hard. Water was shut off daily every morning, hot water was scarce. Food was horrendous. Recycled. The leftover fries and burgers from the snack bar was served on the breakfast buffet. Food was the same daily and cold. Wait staff was great. Happy and accommodating. Drinks at the bar were questionable. What ever concoction that was in the blender was what your drink was mixed with. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri and it was full of coconut. What was left in the blender at days end was poured into a plastic milk jug and used the next day. I would not recommend this hotel.

They wanted to spray for bugs, they just came in through the door, no knock and say we Fumication, we said NO. General manager says it not Poison, but it kills cockroaches and ants. So what is it then? Wont get answer and she told me go back to my country. So dont go here. This manager and hotel ruined it for me to want to go back to Mazatland.

This hotel was not as advertised out of 7 restaurants on 1 available the rest all closed for maintenance. No swim up bar, so dirty, rooms smelled of sewage so bad. We needed up paying $1000 for 4 days to switch hotels so we could enjoy our vacation!

We booked the hotel for 21 days, during. Christmas which was a big mistake as it catered to all the Mexicans on vacation. The room smells so bad you have to make sure all the drains are covered or you will smell. Poop all night. No fridges in the rooms. The pool area is so old. They never clean up around it until the end of the day. One day we seen someone dropped a jam package in the morning by the pool and all these wasps came by and no one cleaned it until evening. Then we had breakfast in the restaurant and so many wasps you couldn’t enjoy your meal. We had to tell the waiter to move the dirty dishes. As soon as you walk up the stairs from the beach you smell poop. It is so disgusting. Some days you only see one waiter running around serving people other day no one. No one speaks English and after 18 days they only say 2 devices on WIFI. Never stay here again the view is the only nice thing. Sometimes if you are lucky they will leave you water in your room but takes them all day to clean the room and then threw out a brand new bottle of medicine.

I've sat on this for a few days because it's hard to sum up everything that happened at the Oceano Palace. It was a tough trip but I do want to give kudos to the staff who did their best to make us feel welcome and taken care of. - After a very long travel day, check-in took close to an hour and we were given zero instruction on how things operated -- bracelet policy, towel lending, restaurant schedules, etc. We were just handed a key and sent on our way - Night one half of our room flooded because our air conditioner was leaking. It took 4 days for them to fix it so we just kept piles of towels under the dripping in hopes of containing the mess - My family is from the U.S. and most of us do not speak fluent Spanish-- no big deal! We understand we're in Mexico and were ready to dive right in! -- a couple employees were very kind and patient with us but many were incredibly rude. The two bartenders than run the indoor-outdoor bar by the pool most of the day made fun of the "Gringas" every time we came to get a drink. It was demoralizing and I eventually just started sending my husband because I was tired of being treated that way. -The restaurant staff was very kind. Unfortunately, the buffet food made 9 out of the 11 people in our group very very ill. We paid for an all inclusive package but were only able to enjoy the food the first half of the week. The last few days we ordered fast food through Uber Eats. I did not think I would be eating KFC and McDonalds and a beautiful Mexican resort. - Ice and water were difficult to come by. We didn't drink the tap water and didn't trust anything but bottled water by the end of the trip. Each time we asked for more water I felt like we were being a nuisance. -The pool -- the pool and beach area are beautiful and they DO get crowded but that is to be expected. Our first few days there, right at the entrance off the property to the beach, there was a broken pipe leaking black liquid that ran a river right to the ocean. It smelled like sewage and seemed extremely dangerous as we had to step around it each time we went on and off the beach. - Activities, I'm saving the best part of the trip for last-- Leo and the group of employees leading resort activities work their butts off. They always have a smile and are welcoming to everyone at the resort-- even the sole American family (that's us!). On July 4th, the activities crew wished us a Happy Independence Day (and we're not particularly patriotic...) and told us that todays activities were dedicated to the holiday. It was an extremely kin gesture with a sole purpose of making us feel welcome. The entire resort should take their lead because if they did, this experience would have been amazing. I would not recommend anyone stay at the Oceano Palace mostly because as I'm writing this I'm still very ill from what I consumed on the property. I was so excited to go to a location that wasn't full of U.S. tourists but I did expect a bit more kindness. I know the U.
