The Peacock at Rowsley

A beautiful old building with an interesting aged history. The staff were amazing, very friendly. We were looked after in our stay with passion from every member of staff we encountered. Our tasting menu that evening was truly wonderful and a fabulous wine and cocktail list that was very suitably priced and packed with some very interesting wines. We retired to our rooms for one of the best sleeps ever. The rooms had welcomed air-conditioning. Breakfast was equally good. Could not fault ThePeacock at Rowsley.

The recent refurbishment has been done really well, keeping the original charm while adding a fresh, modern look. The tasting menu was amazing, with delicious flavors in every dish. The wine pairing was spot on and made the meal even better. A big thank you to James for his excellent service—he was friendly, professional, and made the evening special. Highly recommend!

The staff was professional, friendly and accommodating. The room was beautiful and spacious. The bed was so comfortable it was difficult to leave it. Oh, and the grounds and garden are gorgeous—-right on a river with great views of stone bridges. Five stars all around!

14 of our family including 6 children under 8 celebrated our daughter’s 40th birthday in one of the private rooms in the hotel with lunch. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the lovely Alice and her team who looked after us exceptionally well before the lunch, having coffees in the garden, throughout lunch and afterwards. She and her team were very efficient and friendly and served us exceptionally well bringing courses and drinks throughout just at the right times and intervals. Nothing and no request were too much trouble. I include the lovely hotel receptionist too in that respect. The meal was superb, as good as we have had anywhere, exquisite in taste and presentation. The room was just the right size for intimacy and comfort with a luxurious, classy feel. I thoroughly recommend this type of tailored group dining experience at the Peacock Hotel. We will remember it for being the most enjoyable occasion made possible by the friendly professional staff, the exquisite tasty food and relaxing luxurious ambience of the room and hotel. Thoroughly recommended and thank you everyone at the Peacock.

We've stayed at a number of hotels similar to The Peacock and can say confidently that it is best in class. Located just outside Bakewell, The Peacock sits comfortably beside the Derwent and has well kept grounds. It's beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and somebody has excellent taste in period furniture. It fits with the 400 year old fabric and feel of the building. The welcome is remarkably warm and friendly, which sets the tone. Somehow they have managed to instil that je ne sais quoi with all of the guest-facing staff. That is a huge achievement in hospitality and not easy to either deliver or replicate. Well done team Peacock, it has been noticed and appreciated. Please keep it up. It makes a big difference. It's certainly worth eating here. The food is, without exception, first rate. A really nice touch was the unexpected amuse bouche with pre-dinner drinks in the bar. Breakfast also was fabulous and shouldn't be missed. Yes, it is a wee bit pricey. However, that is more than matched by the entire experience. I should also say that the pink SMEG kettle in the room was an inspired inclusion. It's light years ahead of the usual anonymous article placed as an afterthought in most hotel rooms. Quirky is good!

A beautiful hotel with very friendly and professional staff. We had two rooms, both with lovely garden views. Rooms were large, spotlessly clean and the beds very comfortable. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was excellent. I cannot rate this hotel highly enough
