Riad Mehdia

Riad Medhia is a sanctuary of calm nestled in the bustling Marrakech medina. We were treated so well by Mohammed and the team and instantly felt at home as soon as we arrived. The location is perfect, just a few minutes walk from the main square which connects the souks and also near tourist spots like Bahia Palace etc. However, the street the riad is on is much quieter and we felt very safe being there. There are lots of nice restaurants nearby, we loved a Lebanese restaurant called Naranj that’s right around the corner. The riad has been lovingly restored and has so many interesting, historical features such as the original old wooden doors and locks. It has been decorated in both the traditional Berber and Arabic styles and is a delight to relax in after spending a day in the souks! The rooms are spacious and clean with aircon for the warmer nights. There is also a lovely secluded rooftop which we relaxed on with a mint tea most afternoons. The breakfast is also delicious with lots of different traditional options rotated each day. We must give a special shout out to Mohammed, he couldn’t do enough for us and helped us organise airport transfers, bus tickets and an amazing medina tour. He was also really helpful and sympathetic when my partner felt unwell. Just a note, you will hear a lot of birdsong in the mornings but we loved hearing our resident feathered friends! We cannot recommend this place enough and would not hesitate to come back here when next in Marrakech :)

We were fortunate enough to stay in the rooftop room of this wonderful Riad for 5 nights. The central location, just a few minutes walk from Jemaa El Fnaa and numerous choice of excellent cafes and restaurants, makes this Riad an excellent choice. The best part of our stay was the generous hospitality shown to us by Mohammed, Hicham, and Soufiane. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Marrakech!

Perfect in every way! I can’t fault anything. We absolutely LOVED our stay. From the moment we got there to the moment we left, the staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating, not to mention really interesting to talk to and they gave us so much helpful information about our stay in Marrakech. The rooms were fantastic, clean, quirky (every room is different) and furnished beautifully. We especially loved the wooden doors which added to the traditional feel to this wonderful home. The breakfast was SUPERB. Every day something new, and all local. The staff made sure to tell us what it was that we were served and it was really interesting to learn about the local food. Breakfast is set in the inner courtyard of the Riad which is particularly quaint with its beautiful banana trees growing through the middle. Top floor has a rooftop terrace which again, was furnished beautifully with tables and sun loungers, perfect for the mornings and evenings to relax after a day in the Souks. This Riad was 100% better than any 5 star hotel I have ever stayed in, and I would thoroughly recommend if you are visiting Marrakech. In my opinion it is far better to stay in a traditional place like this to experience Morocco properly. Thank you to the hosts for their exceptional, 5 star service. We will be staying again for sure!!

Really great stay. Mohamed and Sufiyan excellent hosts who went out of their way to accommodate our every whim. They booked our tours, gave advice and were warm and friendly. Our room could have been better but everything else made up for it. The Hamam body scrub and massage were wonderful and roof top garden a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the street below. Well situated for the souks, restaurants and market Would definitely recommend and would go back again.

This was a lovely Riad at Marrakech. We had a nice time at this place. Rooms were good sized. Bathroom attached had a shower area. Bed was clean. Breakfast each morning was great. We also hired a guide arranged through the Riad which is almost a must have for the city to avoid getting lost.

Excellent 6 night stay in a great location. Sufiyan and Mohammed were extremely helpful, providing breakfast when we arrived at 10 am, securing bus tickets for Essaouira, phoning establishments to see about their hours and making reservations, arranging transportation to and from Marrakech and to Jardin Majorelle. Aircon was good, water was hot, breakfast was generous, and we ate two delicious suppers on site. We were sorry to miss the Friday couscous meal. Laundry was done on request. Wifi in courtyard only so I used my phone as a hotspot in my room. I misunderstood that the 25€ for the taxi from the train station was paid by the Riad so I gave the driver 30€, not having correct change, and none was returned to me. Sufiyan kindly took 25€ off our bill although it was my misunderstanding. Just an all round great stay made extra special by the hospitality of the staff.
