Mohonk Mountain House

Ballroom Dancing weekend was the best. I avoided taking Ballroom Dancing lessons , with my wife, for decades, but finally gave in by attending the Ballroom Dancing weekend. We had a blast, feeling comfortable and confident in both the lessons and the evening dances. We have never taken any lessons before, this was our first time, and we were on the dance floor at every given opportunity. The instructors, and even some of the more advanced guest were very helpful in teaching us new things. On our down time, we hiked the beautiful trails. The property is very scenic. From the second we got there, the staff was polite, professional. informative , always with a smile on their face. This includes the people at the gatehouse, the guy who unloaded our car, the check in staff, dining staff, Ballroom Dancing staff and even house keeping who respected our ' do not disturb' placed on the outer doorknob, but came over to us when she saw us leaving the room asking if there is anything we needed. I cant praise this place enough. Already scouting out their future themed weekends.

Our family keeps going back to this beautiful resort. There is so much for everyone in our party to enjoy, no matter the age! The property itself is gorgeous, the hiking trails are so enjoyable and the views breathtaking. The staff were friendly and attentive. We loved the snow tubing addition this visit! Our room was perfect for the size of our party as well. We can’t wait to return. Mohonk is beautiful and enjoyable year round in all seasons. While we didn’t have time for the spa this visit, in the past it also has been a highlight of the property.

Spent a wonderful few nights at Mohonk just prior to Thanksgiving. I’d been here previously, but the last visit was 20+ years ago, so wasn’t sure what to expect. Fortunately, it was as magical as I remember. The setting is spectacular, the architecture enchanting, and service is consistently welcoming , friendly, and efficient. It’s definitely a splurge and may not be for everyone, so it’s important to understand what it is—and is not—prior to booking. The primary attractions are relaxation, recreation, the quiet enjoyment of nature, and appreciation for history. The intent, I think, is for guests to unplug and detach a bit from the outside world. Yes, there is Wi-Fi, and some TVs are available upon request, but if you’re hoping to binge watch your favorite shows or keep up to the minute with the latest news and sports coverage, this might not be the place for you. The guest rooms and common areas exude historic ambiance and are cozy, well-maintained, and have a certain understated elegance, but if you’re expecting gilded-age opulence, you may be disappointed. On this visit, I found the food (three meals plus teatime daily) to be top-notch, an improvement over the typical food offerings from 20 years ago. The main dining room is vast and quite beautiful with wonderful views, but more evocative of, say, a historic national park lodge dining hall rather than a luxurious resort restaurant. My advice is to do your research and know what to expect before you go. If you’re a nature and/or history lover, you’re in for a treat!
