So one of the best things about the Malia Bay Beach Hotel is the staff. But also the location. Being at the Western end of Malia it's past the hub-bub of the town & right next to Potamos beach, & by right next to I mean, walk onto the beach outside the hotel, turn right and you're walking over Potamos Beach. There's also the Potamos Beach Restaurant there which serves the best coffee with a view you'll find anywhere. Anyway, location, turn right and walk along the coast up past the Minoan Palace (worth a visit if you like that sort of thing) and you're surrounded by the sounds of the sea, birdsong, the smell of flowers; just heaven. But if you want you can turn left and stroll along the beach into Malia where you'll find some great watering holes among other things. Did I mention the staff? They're all fantastic, I won't mention any names, because it wouldn't be fair on the hard workers who aren't so "front of house".But I can guarantee the bar staff will look after you. As for the rooms, yes, you could probably find something to complain about, but this isn't £1000 a night 5 star. The rooms are fine and you can see where they're making improvements (our shower was one of the best I've had). Food - lots of it and tasty; the chefs & restaurant staff work hard and are friendly. The atmosphere at the Malia Bay is super relaxed, and that's exactly what we wanted. Would we go back? 100%. Plan to do so next year.
