Garden Hotel Machakos

1. We checked in on the night of 21st July 2016 for a nights stay. We were booked in room 124 with my wife and the first thing i wanted to do was to charge my phone and to my surprise... there were no sockets on the wall except for what the TV was using and even after disconnecting the plug from the socket in order to charge my phone,the socket was not working so i called the receptionist who was totally unable to assist me. 2. The glass door in the bathroom was broken. 3. The glass mirror in the bathroom was so stained over the years i couldn't see myself well enough. 4.The tissue in the room was already used not a new one was supplied during clean up of the room. 5. The toilet was stained and dirty. 6. No bed switch for room lights 7. The soap provided is for lodgings 8. The T.V need to be upgraded 9. Our room was not provided with bottled water. 10. The night was horrible and the bed sheets were of some terrible quality. 11. The next morning as we paid cash the front office did not have loose change and they kept us waiting for a long while. 12. The breakfast look unpleasant and the presentation on buffet terrible we just did not eat breakfast that morning. 13. Our room was registered under someone elses name when i went to pay our bills that morning. 14. Definetly this facility is run down with NO STANDARDS! I would not visit this place again. It is terrible if Gelian Hotel is fully booked always, then we are left with no choice but to encounter mediocre services from Garden Hotel.

I was upgraded to a suite on arrival, so found the room to be fine. Bathroom particularly was a bit tired, but had reliable hot water and didn't smell. Food is good, but buffet lunches (if you're on the B&B tariff) are over-priced. Staff generally pleasant and ready to please. Chef gave good recommendations of other places to eat in Machakos each night, which was generous!
