Stanwell House

We had a fantastic family lunch in The Orangery. Beautiful setting and wonderful food. The service provided by all the staff was excellent, especially from our waitress, Bethan. The dining experience was all the better for Bethan’s caring nature and sparkling personality. Nice garden area too!! We look forward to returning again soon.

We visited on a Friday late lunch with a group of friends, our table wasn’t booked (turned out I had booked it for the day before ). This was absolutely no problem for the girls in front of house. They found us a lovely table with smiles and warm welcome. The menu here is so interesting with choices to suit everyone and fresh and exciting flavours. The starter tapas choices are lovely and I always have chicken satay which has tender chicken and a delightful sauce. The service was excellent. 3 young ladies served us and were polite , attentive and efficient. Well done stanwells with such a great setting / menu / staff you are my favourite place in the area !!!

We have just had a lovely four night stay at the Stanwell House Hotel staying in a house room facing the main high street. There is a small car park adjacent to the long stay car park but spaces are very limited. Whilst our room was very cosy and comfortable the windows are single glazed so even when shut we could hear traffic and people talking outside well into the night/early morning. We could also hear people in the room above us. The hotel has loads of character and we found all the staff to be very friendly and welcoming. We had dinner in the Samphire Restaurant and the Salt Bar. The food menu is the same throughout the hotel and the dishes we had were well presented and very tasty. The fish pie was particularly good and the gnocchi. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and good quality ingredients. We would also recommend the Kings Arms in the old part of Lymington and The Haven Restaurant overlooking the marina. We very much enjoyed our stay but would probably not have a room at the front of the hotel if we visited again.

I went to Stanwell House yesterday just for a drink in the garden. This place is gorgeous inside and out, we had cocktails and wine with nibbles - battered samphire, peppers with chilli and halloumi fries with delicious dips, the garden is extremely pretty, seating is comfortable, staff are attentive. They have live music on Fridays which unfortunately we could not stay for but we will be back, we recommend!

We went for dinner recently in the Orangerie but weren’t staying at the hotel. The restaurant was nicely decorated and seating was comfortable. Menu was quite limited; we settled for chicken satay starter which was a bit tough, served with dry toast and no butter. Main course of Thai vegetable curry with added prawns consisted of mostly courgettes which we didn’t like. Actually no-one asked if it was OK having seen a dish left full of courgettes. We had to ask three times for a glass of tap water, so would say the service was not up to scratch especially as the restaurant was empty. There are nicer restaurants in Lymington, so sorry to say we will not be visiting again.

We had high hopes for this restaurant after reading the reviews. We walked in and no one in the restaurant approached us. We found a table and waited, still no one came over. My husband went to get a menu, the waitress asked where we were sitting so we hoped she’d be over to take our drinks order but no! We sat there and were ignored and after a while we decided that if we were going to buy a bottle of wine for £40 and 2 meals the least we would expect is someone to take our order. It wasn’t even full and just so no excuse for the quite frankly poor service. To be honest I would not recommend this place and we will never go back which is a shame as we visit Lymington ever year and often tell our friends and family about the visit. We will be sure to tell them to avoid this place though

Beautifully appointed rooms. Perfect position on the High Street just 5 minutes walk from the quay. Lovely peaceful garden with plenty of seating and a bar. Nice restaurant. Great staff. Highly recommended, we will be back here again soon.

The Stanwell House Hotel is a beautifully refurbished hotel in a great Town Centre location. The breakfast was lovely with locally sourced foods. With all the money that has been spent refurbishing the Hotel the only downside is that there is no Air Conditioning to the top floor rooms.

An excellent hotel ideally situated on the High Street. Rooms were very comfortable. Breakfast and Dinner were to the highest standard and nothing was too much trouble for the employees. Parking is not adjacent to hotel but in own car park opposite the hotel on other side of street. Do get instructions as further that it appears and you have to pass through general car parks for access. Bus station is within 800 yards and easy to catch bus to Milford on Sea if going to Hurst Castle. We had garden room which did not create problem with noise.
