A pleasing to the eye, U-shaped, two storey, traditional tiled roof hotel with 90% of the rooms facing the pools (of which there are three). Not sure how it actually got the four-star rating as the complex is now dated and clearly lacks any recent TLC. However, the room accommodation is bright and airy and has a daily maid service. Despite no coffee/tea making facilities there was both a fridge and TV provided in the rooms. Whilst considerable attention was given to cleaning the rooms, including the bathroom, the same care was not forthcoming to the balconies or room terraces. These remained upswept for the duration of our stay (7 nights). The room safe comes with a daily charge of 2.50 euros. But the rooms have plenty of storage space. The single beds are extremely comfortable but we didn’t see any doubles! The AC works well but beware the rooms that have four external AC units fixed to the side wall! The hotel only paid lip service to its bar and guests rarely used this facility which was limited in what it could provide. The pool bar never opened at all…Pool towels are not provided (so bring your own) but bathroom towels are changed daily, if that’s your wish. What the breakfast lacked in variation it was made up for in quantity. Sadly, a range of varied fresh fruit was not forthcoming unlike their array of different breads and excellent fresh rolls. The reception staff bring credit to the hotel as they are both helpful and engaging. Others have provided very negative comments and the hotel is worthy of being giving credit where it is due. However, it is hard to provide a one-word grading against their published ‘stars.’ Having stayed at many a four-star hotel even ‘average’ would be a bit of a push. But as a holiday hotel it has positives, a few in fact. It would be worth their while to remove the ‘four-star’ rating completely and most would, I feel, consider this a value for money location when staying in this charming and delightful beach village of Luz. We certainly did.

I came across several bad reviews about this hotel but decided to give it a chance anyway—unfortunately, they were absolutely accurate. This is not a 4-star hotel by any means; at best, it might qualify as a 2-star. My room was far from clean. There was dust everywhere, and I found dead flies on the ceiling in both the bedroom and bathroom. The towels and bed sheets were stained, which was unacceptable. Even worse, the door to my room showed clear signs of having been forcibly opened at some point, which made me feel very unsafe. The main pool was out of service during our stay, and we were never informed of this in advance. The alternative pool had toilets nearby that were in a truly disgusting state. Inside the room, the safe didn’t have a lock, the drawer in the wardrobe was broken, and there was water leaking from the boiler onto the fridge. While the hotel’s exterior gives off a nice impression, the inside tells a completely different story—it’s lacking in many areas. Serious improvements are needed before this hotel can be considered anything close to 4-star quality.

Definitely not a 4* hotel, not even a 3* maybe a 2.5* & that's at a push. One of the most disappointing stay's I've ever experienced, when you can't wait to leave the hotel - then it's bad. On arrival the front desk manager Bruno was very helpful & friendly tried to accommodate us wherever he could, Fernando on the other hand was very rude & avoided him. The room's, we didn't feel clean when we got into the bed's, the blankets looked & felt like they had never been washed. The bed's were rickety & worn, When you walk around in bare feet you feel grit on the floor but yet we leave our shoes at the entrance to the room! We had the breakfast twice & it was horrible & had breakfast elsewhere for the rest of the week, you could bounce the egg's off the wall they were so hard & rubbery, a lot of it looked like it was left over from the previous day. The location is great but that's as far as it goes, This hotel may say it's A 4 STAR HOTEL, Iv'e stayed in 3*, 4* & 5* hotel's around the world & this is 2*, great for backpacking, I ignored the low score reviews when I was booking thinking it was people just being salty, don't make the same mistake.

GOOD MORNING. I WAS TRYING TO SEE IF I HAD A RESPONCE TO MY HOLIDAY ? GUESS COS OF THE WEATHER IT WAS NOT DELIVERED. MY FRIEND AND I WANT TO BOOK THE LUZ BAY HOTEL ALGARVE BUT WE BOTH HAVE SOME DIFFICULTY WALKING FAR. WE ARE CONFUSED AS WE DONT UNDERSTAND THE DISTANCE FROM HOTEL TO THE BEACH. IT SAYS 350M MM DONT KNOW WHAT THAT IS. IF ANYONE CAN LET US KNOW ABT HOW LONG IS A SLOW WALK FROM HOTEL TO THE BEACH? THE LUZ BEACH. ABT 10 15 MINUTES WILL BE TOPS. IM PARTIALLY BLIND AND AM STRUGGLING. WHAT I SEE MAY NOT BE THE CASE. PLEASE PLEASE COULD SOMEONE HELP. IF ITS TOO FAR THEN WE MAY HAVE TO RETHINK THE HOTEL. Great hotel , large rooms and lovely grounds . We will definitely visit again. As other reviews have mentioned the rooms are a little tired and some of the staff are disinterested. However , the rooms were clean and cleaned again every day . The grounds were well maintained and pretty. Great location for walking into Luz. Huge buffet breakfast . Really good value for money . There is a hotel car park (of sorts) but it's €10 per day!! , so we parked on the street , perhaps in high season it's needed but certainly wasn't needed when we were there
