The Bull Hotel

The worst hotel stay I have ever experienced. Upon arrival went to the bar to check in and was ignored for 10 minutes. When I finally got someones attention they couldn't hear what I was saying and vice versa as the music playing in the bar and garden was so ridiculously loud. I was then presented with a card reader to pay upfront, not even a thank you after parting with £300 for 1 night !!!!! I should have known that payment upfront meant trouble but as the festival was on in town there was no other accommodation. We followed a barmaid through a dirty storage area where the mops were kept , I mean what a way to present a hotel. We were kept waiting as they couldn't find the key and then after a while came up with the master key and opened the door to a room that had other people staying in it. We were eventually shown to the correct room. Staff had no idea whether breakfast was included for the room rate charged. However having seen the kitchen there is no way I would have eaten it anyway. Basic room , tired old furniture, very outdated bathroom in need of repair and dirty. It had a horrible shower curtain that stuck to you when the water was on ,so gross. The outdoor courtyard seating area was below our window and the room shook with the volume of the music which continued till 1 am. The last of the guests left the outdoor courtyard at 02.45. The least they could have done was explain that the pub is open with loud music playing until very late. In the morning went to leave the key but the whole place was locked up , probably to avoid complaints and a refund request. This room would be overpriced at £100 but at £300 is an absolute crime.

We had a sunday dinner and the chef conner and bar service from Dee was spot on. We cant wait to come again! Great team Mel keep up the good work!

What an amazing service I have had from Dee today. I am so impressed with the level of service I recieve from The Bull Hotel. It'd constantly fabulous, friendly & nothing is ever too much trouble.couldn't think of a better place in Ludlow for service & food value & quality

Lovely building in a great location, Friendly staff, good food. The locals make you feel at home. All in all a very pleasant visit, will be back

Decided to visit, absolutely loved the old features, and history of the The Bull Hotel, and it's updated decor, whilst retaining the features. Much fresher than the old yellow. Beautiful old buildings in the town, steeped in history. Would come back.

This is an honest review as I felt very underwhelmed when comparing to advert and other reviews. At no point was I asked how we were getting on, the manager seems unapproachable and rude. The hotel is an Inn, the pub was full of local men watching football on the the many tv screens and playing darts. All bar no lounge as the nice lounge area also housed a TV and the darts. No signs of where to check in, asked at bar and a helpful chap booked us in. We were then taken behind the bar and thru the dirty cleaning area to a stairway leading to the rooms. The rooms are clean but furniture and bathroom very tired and worn. King room with garden room was not ideal for a King and the garden view was a small window facing steps allowing public to see in. Breakfast I had also read as great, Ludlow sausage was meatless, probably from Ludlow spar. Ludlow bacon was tasteless, this was with greasy mushrooms and 1 piece of toast. No coffee was available as no water, plain tea bags but not labelled and with usual flavoured offerings so didn’t spot them. We were given no options other than English, no choice of eggs bread etc. We only saw the lady cooking through breakfast, never asked if we needed anything or if we were ok . Orange juice was worse than cordial. Nothing explained throughout stay. Pub was not really for a quiet drink as a couple. The garden was nothing like pictures run down with fags and ash everywhere. Unfortunately on top of all that the mattress was tired, with a big dip running across the middle. If it was half price I would not go back or recommend it, sorry.
