Apartamentos Funchal

We had stayed in this area before and thought these apartments would be ok. The apartment (111) was very dated-the kitchen looked like it was from the 60's never mind the 70's. Battered fridge freezer, although it worked, cupboard doors were old painted and scratched. The dining table had ring marks etc all over it. On one day the cleaner was around at the next door apartment and she showed us it-it was fabulous-lovely modern kitchen, so it was clear they had just put us in the oldest one they had. You could not plug the kettle into the socket, had to move it on to the dining table to reach it and the toaster had to go on the floor! There were 2 single beds, with a shelf above, which meant if you got out of them, you would have banged your head-all they need to do is turn them around-we did. We could not have a shower one after the other as the water did not stay hot for that long, you were lucky to get a completely hot shower. There was a washing machine in the bathroom, but it was absolutely useless and you had to 'jiggle' the buttons to make it work and when it did it was not very good anyway. I specifically asked for a quiet apartment with afternoon sun if possible, so we were put over the top of all the bars-which were noisy but everyone is on holiday-but just seems they went out of their way to not give us what we wanted. No sun at all on the balcony at any point! The office closes when it wants to so there is often no one around and when they are conversation is difficult. We paid for a late check out, and the lady said she would attend the apartment at 2 to check and refund the deposit. She didn't arrive the office was closed so we had to go looking for her. On a positive note the apartment was clean, and beds comfy. We won't ever stay there again.

Unhelpful, rude, arrogant to name but a few words to describe our "host" The apartment itself was fine, and other staff helpful to deal with. Location was good also. But the attitude, behaviour and downright bad manners of the manageress left a lot to be desired. This woman should not work in customer service

Been going to this place many,many times. Really happy but previously staff changes have meant the service is not what it was. On the last visit we arrived late and when we went to the room it was disgusting and clearly the room had not been serviced ready for us. Strangely the owner only seems to have one set of keys. So we went for a meal and halfway through the meal they rang and said can you come back to the appartments to open the door. Had to walk all the way back mid meal to let them in to clean the place. Which we ended up doing ourselves.No apology no adjustment to the rate for all that hassle. They honestly think they are doing you a favour by allowing you to stay there.Went to book for this year and they were so rude wth the messages again and we said enough is enough. Never again. As long as you can use Google translate, don't mind using the same towels all week and don't care about being spoken to like a child it's fine.

We really enjoyed our stay here. I would say the location was perfect, baring in mind we have a 3 and 5 year old they could both walk to shops, bars, beach, restaurants without too much complaining! On the final day we even walked to Playa de Las Americas but stopped for food half way. I know a few people have said the room was dated but I would genuinely say it was standard for a continental apartment. We had a two bedroom apartment and it was massive! We did end up moving our mattresses to the living room floor purely because the windows in both rooms were very easy to open and we wouldn’t have wanted either of our children to open them without us hearing/knowing as they could have fallen. The television was great with a range of channels. Bathroom had a really good shower and a washing machine. We had a sofa and dining room table in our front room plus a separate kitchen. Nice balcony and it felt safe with our kids out there. There isn’t a clean during your stay unless you pay 50 euros but it was spotless when we arrived and they provided loads and loads of towels. Our family had a one bedroom apartment and it was of course smaller than ours (having one less bedroom) but they were happy with it. Their apartment overlooked the road (ours overlooked the pool) so I asked them about noise but they said they didn’t hear any really. Although it said the apartments had Wi-Fi when we logged in it took us to a further login page and we couldn’t get on. My father in law asked at Reception and the lady couldn’t get him on either but it doesn’t sound like other people had a problem so maybe it was just us. As well as location the other top point of the apartment was the pool! So many sun beds, very quiet, baby pool to use. We really liked it. There was a slight confusion at check out when the cleaner came to us at 9. We raised it at reception and the owner was very cross, I think with the cleaner, maybe with me… I’m not entirely sure. She wanted me to wait while she was on the phone but we just wanted to get to breakfast and I told her it really didn’t matter. I only even went to talk to her as I didn’t want to be charged that we were late checking out of check out was 9…. Which it wasn’t it was 11 so to be honest all was good and we were happy. Overall a lovely, good value stay!!

Ho soggiornato una settimana in questo appartamento....tutto bene ma non c e la macchina del caffè ma la moka tradizionale ...la TV anche se c e un buon wi-fi non funziona cmq tutto bene ...tanto per precisare ...consiglio ..molti posti per mangiare da vicino ...
