Vidasoul review: Palazzo Vidasoul is one of 6 locations you can eat and drink on the beach in los cabos without being in an "all inclusive" resort. For reference these monuments to keeping beaches accessible to everyone; are La Palapa in Cabo Pulmo, Palazzo Vidasoul in Vinorama, Zai and Lateral in La Fortuna, Zippers in Costa Azul, The office, Biligins and Mango deck in Medano Beach, and the Beach Club in Cerritos. These are the only “public access” beach restaurant bars on the tip of baja. If you want to go where the Cao locals are hanging out……these are the legacy locals joints. This clandestine palace is the only one that is also a hotel with a beach front pool, restaurant and bar. The family that created this amazing place, make it open to the public. It is like a timeless monolithic sanctuary that asks you to “Come as you are”. The ambiance is mesmerizing and the juxtaposition of the super modern architecture and the down to earth homey feel make for an experience you cant miss. Vidasoul is one of the six wonders of Los Cabos. I dare you to stop to eat and drink at them all! You’ll know “the soul of los cabos” when your done.

We stayed here and my god the views of the ocean, whale watching were spectacular. The food was very tasty and full of flavors. I could live here, the room I stayed in was room 100 its under $350 but worth $500 with a view like that and access to private beach. The rooms are so clean the beds very cozy I sleep better here then any other place I’ve been to I’d move here if I could.

I’ve been to 17 countries and this boutique hotel is one of the most relaxing places I have ever visited. Top of the list to decompress and let civilization’s chaos slip away. One of the few remote beaches left where you can walk for miles and quite possibly never see another person. The beauty and elegance of the beaches, sand and surrounding views are 5 star all the way. Also, about the hotel… the finest in beds and bedding, rain Forrest showers, elegant polished walls and flooring, Incredible friendly staff and absolutely the finest in cuisine. 5 star food at 3 star prices!! I recommend this unique location for those that want to get away and relax to the max. Having read a few other reviews and seeing some of the less than flattering comments, I can only believe these must have been disgruntled guests looking for a freebie because they didn’t find what they were looking for and took it out on the hotel. Don’t believe a word of it, this place is Heaven On Earth!

We couldn't have a worse experience. 1) The road to get there is an absolute nightmare: it's a dirt road with craters, you need a jeep to be safe. 2) The place is old and not maintained: broken things are left around. 3) The restaurant is open 8am to 9am: if you want to eat or drink (even just water) outside of those hours, you better have brought goods with you, as you are kilometers of bad dirt road away from stores. 4) There were insects in the bed that looked like lice or fleas: we got a full refund and left, but no compensation was given to us for the shock and the hustle we had to go through to get rid of them.

First, the good things. The location is nothing short of phenomenal for anybody in search of peace, quiet, calm, and solitude, offering a magnificient twist on the Cabos holiday experience. From the terrace or the beach, just off the Eastern Cabo dirt road, you generally spot more whales blowing out their air or jumping above the water than you see people around you. The rooms are comfortable, the beds are good, everything is silent in the desert surrounding the hotel apart from the waves breaking on the shore, making for restful nights. It's an hour to San José del Cabo (decide for yourself whether that's good or bad), a bit less to Cabo Pulmo, and all of it is driveable in a standard car, a 4X4 is not required. I wouldn't venture on that road in heavy rain nor in the dark of the night, but that's just about the only drawbacks I can think of, in terms of mobility. Then, the less good things. We got there late-afternoon. There were rusty free weights and a couple of benches littering one side of the entrance to the reception area; there were broken appliances and various semi-abandoned building materials on the othe side. But, interestingly, no receptionist. We went around the whole place, greeted a couple of employees (we guessed) at the bar, didn't get any wiser about getting our room, and so returned and got one of them to come to reception and check us in - or so we think as the guy couldn't find our booking, didn't ask for a credit card nor any ID, said he'd figure it out later, took us to a room and left us to ourselves for the next 3 days. The check-out would be similarly "touchless", except I decided not to disturb anybody and I just hung the room key back on the board, with all the others. So, in terms of service, and attention from staff, well, it was literally absent. The original plan for the resort was grand and beautiful, as can be seen on the images at reception (why they leave those there, no idea, but then again, there's also photos of someone's babies, so hey, why not). The hotel was built modern, swanky, beautiful but probably about a quarter of the size it was meant to be, and that includes the available services and common areas. It is unfortunately testament to the overall project not going according to plans; this is now a decaying hotel, with every rusty metal bit cracking the concrete that makes up most of the architecture of the complex. It's still holding but, short of a major overhaul that was not happening when we were there, there's little hope to save the place. Accessorily, the vast glass panes fronting most sides of the building need a regular clean to retain their splendor, and that doesn't seem to happen neither. The pool area is OK but the pool itself is useless. Its shape and size prevent any kind of swimming or playing, and the swim-up bar that's in the middle having obviously been decommissionned some time ago, it can't be used for drinking neither. Great location with a beautiful large window views of the ocean. The food was fantastic, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. My wife and I enjoyed walks in the beach and gorgeous sunsets. I know it can get busy, but when we were there, we had it mostly to ourselves, which was very relaxing.
