We had an amazing few days at Tugu Hotel Lombok at the end of our two week holiday in Indonesia. The hotel is perfectly positioned on the northwest coast, set away from the hustle and bustle and alongside a stunning bit of beach. The hotel has such a charming and unique feel - this definitely isn’t a cookie-cutter 5* chain hotel! We loved discovering all the Indonesian artwork and sculptures throughout the hotel. There are two really, really beautiful swimming pools to enjoy - the larger one perhaps the best I have ever seen! We stayed in an incredible villa, stunningly decorated with a leaf-shaped plunge pool overlooking the beach and an outdoor bathroom and shower - it really was spectacular. There are two restaurants which were open at different times - both were excellent. The larger one is an architectural masterpiece. I treated myself to a Balinese massage on my last day - I wish I had one every day of my stay - it was soooo good! We enjoyed a fabulous half day snorkelling trip to the Gili Islands. It was pretty busy, but we still managed to see some black-top reef sharks, turtles, and lots and lots of reef fish - it was all very impressive. I just hope they can preserve the reef as it was being very well used. We also visited a nearby waterfall which was super fun. We were introduced to a local guide who firstly took us for the most interesting walk through his village - we even visited his son in class at school and we met his family at home. It was wonderful. We then went for a swim at the base of the waterfall before we enjoyed a picnic overlooking rice fields and mountains. A massive ‘thanks you’ to Adi for being such great company. He picked us up from the airport and took us on our waterfall excursion (via a local market). He was very knowledgeable and great fun and gave us a really good insight into Indonesian culture and the way of living. Finally, another shout out to the wonderful staff who really shone. We will never forget their smiles, good humour and graciousness. We were lucky enough to have Adi look after us a number of times. Hotel Tugu Lombok is one of the most characterful, charming and beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in. The memories we made there will last a lifetime - thank you!

We had a fantastic family holiday at Hotel Tugu. We arrived after a busy week in Bali and Hotel Tugu felt like paradise. Our accommodation was amazing. We had a slight issue with our electrics but this was sorted out. The food is outstanding. Lots of choice and nice healthy options. We did the full day Gili snorkelling tour which I would highly recommend. Our guide was really knowledgeable and managed to find everything my sons wanted to see. On his recommendation we hired bikes and cycled around the Gili island which was also good. My husband and son went fishing which they thoroughly enjoyed. We used the hotel car to take us to the wildlife park which was a nice way to spend a morning. We visited the Oberoi hotel for dinner one night. I think what really makes this a fantastic hotel is the staff. They are all really friendly and helpful and can’t do enough for you. A special mention for Taman, Gede Agus, Gede, Ruslan and Ruslan who made our holiday extra special. Not going to lie there were tears when we left!

The staff are wonderful - friendly and attentive, and seem happy to make guests happy. We had a great day snorkeling off the dragon boat, and some excellent meals including a Grand Rijsttafel on top of the old temple. Massages were excellent, and we really had fun doing a palm weaving/flower arranging lesson. I’d say that this is not the best place for beach swimming, because it’s too shallow, but the pools are lovely. I found the bed comfortable and the outdoor bathroom was cool. Beachfront afternoon tea was really nice. If it hadn’t been so hot and humid, I would have taken advantage of the bikes to explore a bit more. Special shout out to the housekeeping guys who decorated our room with towel animals and flowers more than once - so cute!!

We came to Lombok for 7 nights after spending 4 nights in Bali. Hotel Tugu, surpassed our expectations. Situated on the mainland right opposite the Gili islands, it was on the north side of the peninsular which meant that the beach was very sheltered and most of the time the sea was quite calm. It is situated on a private beach, and you could walk all the way around the peninsular along the beach. It had a boutique feel and had the most incredible statues and buildings dotted around the place. We travelled with our 15 year old son and on arrival were delighted with our 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suite which had 2 large bedrooms with super king, super comfortable beds with mosquito nets. The bathrooms were situated outside, which was novel. I was a little nervous about visiting wildlife, but other than a couple of lizards and millipedes, we didn’t see anything all week. The restaurant was great. Wonderful food! A great choice on mixture of local, eastern and western food. Lovely fresh fruit and salads. You could eat really well. Service could be a little slow at times, but all the staff were so lovely. Warm, friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The beach had a couple of kayaks and paddle boards, and snorkels that you could borrow. There is a pontoon moored off the beach near the reef that you could paddle to and snorkel. We went with the hotel on the full day Gili island snorkelling trip, which was fantastic. We did 5 snorkelling stops. We saw the beautiful reefs, one had blue coral and so much sea life and of course the highlight which was seeing the amazing sea turtles. The guide came with us and pointed out so many different things. We would highly recommend this trip. Our son has his Padi and the next hotel, a walk up the beach, had its own dive centre so he was able to go out and dive a couple of times while we were there too. Including a dive at shark point. The hotel also arranged a cycling tour for us as well. They use an outside company who have many different options. We would highly recommend this as a way of seeing parts of Lombok. We would highly recommend this Hotel.
