Hotel Surf Mar

Stayed here for a netball weekend. Hotel is lovely and clean, was pleasant and nice (room cards were touch and go though). Staff however, were rude from the off! Constant nagging for room cards or drinks card, moaning when entering the restaurant. Can’t possible play volleyball in the pool either. Life guard told us off for that. It was like there was ‘no fun allowed’ policy. Was ok at first to overlook but it was so constant we preferred to go out of the hotel. Also, one pillow provided is not enough. Pack your own guys!

Let's start with the positives. Juan in the lobby was wonderful and did his best to assist us in every way. The people there should get metals for working there, I can imagine their days can be really hard. The lady who cleaned our room was so nice and polite. There were always sunbeds available by the pool, the hotel is very close to the beach. The food was ok for a few meals but you get sick of it pretty soon. Negatives. No mini fridge in the room, rented one for 5 EUR per day and had to get a new one because it didn't cool properly. No coffeemaker in the room. Drinking water only available in the dining area or if you buy it in a machine. Coffee only available in the morning in the dining area. The hotel was really run down, old and the rooms ugly. The tiles were loose in the bathroom floor, soap very sparse. No peeping hole on the door or extra safety lock. The air conditioner broke 2 times in the whole hotel this week and it was very hard to sleep. We got a fan to be able to be in the room. The keycards to open the door very often did not work. One from the group had to go down from the forth floor to the front desk several times a day to fix the card and sometimes it didn't even work straight after fix. The grass around the pool was very thin or not excisting in some big spots. The tiles outside were some broken and the mini golf old and broken (2 holes closed).

Not a nice greeting from reception… I need confirmation that you have booked here! You must send me the email! Anyway…. After overcoming that lovely welcome we went to our room… Hardly 4 stars! Room 445 was located next to the lift and after many tries to open the door ..my Husband went back down to reception and was told …you need to be quick putting the card in! Luckily the cleaning lady Ruchi was there & showed us how to open the door. After gaining entry we were very disappointed by the room… so many marks on the walls.. and to top it off … a bath with a shower over! Cracked tiles & black grout & rust marks. The smell of urine was terrible! We decided to ask at reception for a room with a shower but we’re told… ask in the morning.. we are very busy! Did not even look on the computer let alone care. Off we went to have a look around and have a drink…. The all inclusive cocktail menu is a joke! It comes out of a machine and tastes awful.. no fruit on it .. just a straw! The beer was nice and very welcome! The bar staff are very friendly and try their best to make you feel welcome, but no one could have prepared us for the amount of dogs in prams and the noise…… We are dog lovers and have 2 of our own but never seen anything like this. The food in the restaurant at night was good with a very wide choice but not very warm, there is a microwave should you choose to heat it up. The breakfast had the worst bacon we have ever eaten… and the beans were really cold! Oh well… toast and continental will suffice. We returned to our room to find it had been cleaned by Ruchi who saw us and asked if everything was ok when we said about the smell of urine she said Yes I know… it’s better now.. and it was! So we decided to stay in that room and not bother asking at reception. The room continued to be as clean as was possible and we were always asked if we needed anything so we were pleased with Ruchi. I do have to mention the hard working restaurant staff too and a lovely lady called Gemma pointed us in the right direction of many things that we couldn’t find at first, the man called Segu who filled up all the trays of food was really friendly and always had a smile on his face… which means a lot and is so nice to see. The pool area was nice with loads of sun beds always available, and the tables were always cleared. Before you book at this hotel… if you like it quiet … this is not the place for you.. I don’t think they have ever heard of soft door closures, and you can actually hear the people in the bathroom next door through the walls! When they go to the toilet.. you know! All in all… it’s not the hotel for us and I know I booked a budget room.. but 4 stars! Really!

There’s a huge security issue at this hotel. They will give replacement room key cards to anyone who asks for one without any checks, not even a name. The property is no where near a 4 star. No kettle or drinks, very thin towels, repetitive food, grounds not kept nicely. The rooms are very basic, very dated and worn out. You couldn’t have a bath due to the filler in the bath and around the plug holes. The showers do not stay up. In one room a wall lamp was hanging off the wall. However, they were clean. But didn’t look it due to how worn they were. The breakfast was good, plenty of choice. Dinner was ok, but repetitive. Lots of Spanish food, which we enjoyed, but for the picky eaters you’d struggle. No typical ‘kids corner’ pizza/chicken nuggets etc. Although it was tasty, I couldn’t do a week of it. Had lunch one day, was pretty much the same as dinner. Kids joined in a couple of things when we were at the hotel and although it was mostly in Spanish the staff were welcoming. It’s in a nice location across from the beach and a few cocktail bars. But if you’re wanting to go find more of a nightlife it’s a trek up and down some big hills.

Lovely hotel, we spent 6 days here with 2 kids (aged 10 and 12). Our room was well cleaned, bed made, towels changed EVERYDAY which was perfect. All staff in the hotel, especially restaurant, bar, kids club- are so friendly and polite, they all made us feel very welcomed. Hotel area, pool very lovely, clean with relaxing palm trees, sunbeds always awailable, lots to do for kids, lots of activities. Location was so perfect by the beach, our kids love snorkeling and Fenal beach was best place in the area for diving, lots of colorful fish, octopuses, amazing! Food at hotel was very good, we were half board, great variety, healthy, fresh mediterranean cousine. Dinner on Saturday was the best! soo fancy and delicious! Our room on the 4th floor was very quiet and comfortable, with good aircon. Overall a very good experience. Now the tiny downside from us: SMOKING SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON BACONIES ! (ash trays are provided and it means you allow people to smoke, this should be changed as it is really disturbing for non smokers and kids, also please make separate areas for smokers on the outdoor restaurant and pool, this will be greatly appreciated by non smokers :-) Anyway we will be back for sure, see you soon xxx best wishes from Polish/English family

Pessimo posto, altro che quattro stelle questo è un quattro stalle. La struttura molto sporca e senza alcun tipo di manutenzione, le aree comuni abbandonate e in alcune zone anche pericolose. La stanza con porta d’ingresso rotta e non funzionante, lenzuola strappate, letto con piedino rotto ( con rischio di cadere), bagno con scarico lavandino otturato. Ristorazione di bassissima qualità e zero pulizia… avevo prenotato per 2 notti ma appena siamo scappati dopo la prima notte… Non consigliato!!
