The Chainbridge Hotel

Lovely location, nice river view, clean room with balcony. Disappointed with meals, just run of the mill fast food, no cooked breakfast. The continental breakfast was disappointing, only cooked ham on offer, the crossiant was brioche. Staff polite but not readily available. Wouldn't stay again, but would stay again at Bridge end pub Llangollen.

Our 2nd time here. Love the location, the bedrooms, clean, overlooking the river. The sound of the flowing river and the balcony a big plus. Room no.41 has double aspect windows. It was just gorgeous.

We had a great midweek stay at this unique hotel. The location is truly magical with the beautiful river Dee in front of the hotel and the crystal clear canal behind. The views are wonderful. We had a first floor bedroom with a balcony ( no lift but staff are on hand to assist with cases ). It was a lovely room with everything we needed. We loved sitting on the balcony taking in the views and watching the canoe's, etc coming down the river .The heritage railway is the other side of the river and we saw the steam train one day. The continental breakfast served until 10am was great quality and items were quickly replenished. We had both lunch and dinner at the hotel and the choice and quality was excellent. The staff throughout the hotel were brilliant and Lisa on reception was such a friendly, lovely person with a great customer service attitude. From the initial telephone booking to our departure the service was first class. The hotel is a few minutes walk to the lovely Horseshoe Falls and a few minutes drive to the town. We spent all the time at the hotel and the Falls in the hot weather only using the car on departure. The area is a World Heritage site and is one of the most beautiful places in Wales. One of the best hotels we have had the pleasure of staying at. Great value for this quality. Highly recommended.

Some great elements, but TLC and attention to detail are needed. Location fabulous, staff efficient and friendly, we had a lovely evening meal... delicious fish pie. Aesthetic is nice, and the outdoor spaces and flowers gorgeous.. but it does feel a but unloved. Tatty signs sellotaped to the bedroom patio door and in the restaurant, despite being overall very clean, manky sealant in the shower and sink is off-putting and inexcusable at any price point. Other bit need attention too, such as our balcony was HUGE, but chairs and a tatty table just looked lost. Balcony felt in cared for... paint flaking off the wall and no light We'd return.. this is a nice hotel, but really hope the management do a thorough rece and get some snagging done.

We stayed on a Saturday night and had a fabulous time. We had a first floor room ( room8) with a balcony and gorgeous view over the river, steam railway and the chainbridge. We thought that the room was nicely decorated, clean and well appointed. The bathroom was traditional but functional, with water at the right temperature and a nice shower over the bath. We had dinner here, which was a lovely experience. We had a gorgeous table by the window so that we could keep on enjoying the fabulous views. The menu is extensive, with something to suit all tastes. Food was good quality and service was excellent. The bar area also had indoor and outdoor tables placed to make the best of the views. While breakfast is continental only, we felt that there was a great choice available - fruit including strawberries, yoghurt, juices, cereals, ham, cheese, breads, crumpets, pastries, Welsh cakes. This made a pleasant change to full cooked. We enjoyed a walk to the nearly Horseshoe falls too. Overall, we had a fabulous time here and would love to return.

My wife and I stayed at the Chainbridge Hotel on Saturday 5th July 2025 which was my wife's birthday. It was a really busy week at the hotel with the music festival being on at Llangollen Pavillion. We must have got one of the last rooms No 44 by the canal. When we entered the room there was a dank smell! Not a great start! Then I noticed twin beds instead of a double. Again, not a lot could be done because the hotel was fully booked. We fancied a bite to eat as we had not eaten and arrived for the room to be ready at 3pm. No food available not even a sandwich or a plate of chips or just something before we went to the Human League concert at 5pm. We opened up some crisps that we brought with us and cracked open a bottle of wine to celebrate my wife's birthday! I dropped one of our plastic glasses and it rolled underneath the bed! That when we found lots of fur balls, tissues, dead insects!!!! Under both beds was the same. Got some pictures to prove it! We had a lovely evening at the concert couldn't really sleep in the room due to it being such a hot night. No air conditioning, couldn't open the window for fear of getting bitten as we were so close to the canal man's had been warned and no fan in the room. We just thought get our head down , go to breakfast early and go home. Got up early the next morning, jumped in the shower and the water after being set went red hot and you couldn't control the settings properly as it was low down on the bath taps! We made our way to breakfast looking forward to a full English when my wife said I don't think they do it anymore, however, it says an extensive continental breakfast!!! I had stayed the year previous playing golf in the area and it did a mean breakfast back then. We had a look around in the restaurant to find white bread for toast, a bit of ham and cheese and some cereal! This was the extensive continental breakfast? 🤔 I asked the waitress what had changed in the last 12 months? Not her fault, however, she explained that the new owner's only want this service for the guests. Really surprised as the location of the hotel is quite beautiful. After expressing my disappointment to Lisa about the whole visit was a standard apology, no goodwill gesture or any form of compensation for the room at £155! I challenged back on the email and was told that the owner is not prepared to do anything! My assessment is that the new owner has stripped everything right back to the bone to maximise profitability. Kitchen only open at specific times. No snack bar menu. Bare minimum at breakfast, lack of experienced staff in hospitality, seemed quite disinterested when challenged about what food was on offer, rooms hadn't been cleaned in a number of days, basing it on our room. Summing up it wouldn't take much to make this a great place to stay, however, I think profitability is more important than the customer. I also think that due to it's location it gets away with some of these things! I didn't ment
