Basecamp Wales offers family-run hostel accommodations in Llanllyfni, on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park and 19 mi from Pen-Y-Pass and 5.1 mi to the beach at Dinas Dinlle. Free WiFi is offered in public areas and free private parking is available on site.
All rooms are located on the first floor,accessed via stairs, and contain bunk beds. Bed linen and towels are provided. Guests have access to a well-equipped shared kitchen fitted with 2 electric cookers, 2 microwave ovens, 2 toasters and 2 kettles. A dishwasher and kitchenware are also provided.
The property features a large garden, a common lounge and dining area equipped with a flat-screen TV, billiards table and board games. There are animals on-site, including chickens, ducks, sheep and alpacas.

Great hostel. Very clean, well equipped and well managed. Peaceful location. We hiked up the Llanberis path in Snowdon which was about 30 minutes drive away. We had a private bathroom which was basic, as you would expect for a hostel. We had a great few days - thank you.

Fantastic base for exploring Snowdonia on a budget or stay for work. Super clean rooms with a great en-suite bathroom powerful shower too. Very comfortable bed, no tv in room but that's not a problem for me. Large downstairs lounge and big well equipped kitchen for self catering Very friendly and hospitable staff

Just a wonderful place to stay. Basecamp is Big, very cean and everything you need in the kitchen. Very comfortable beds with big rooms. We had an ensuite bathroom with bath and shower. Our view was the mountains and what a brilliant location. There were towels and bedding and all geat quality. Lots of hot water. Really comfortable big lounge. We cooked a big meal and played pool. Lovely atmosphere. We will 100% return

We have stayed for 4 nights at the end of October with our two children aged 4 and 8, it’s been the perfect introduction to hostel life for the children, and we have all had a lovely time. The hostel is spotlessly clean, with parking, towels, bedding, WiFi all provided. The guys that run the hostel are accommodating, welcoming and friendly, really nice people. It’s a lovely size with a good communal area, nice outside space, all very clean and well equipped. In a central location to lots of places, including Llanberis, and many other towns. The value for money, especially in half term week was fantastic. Highly recommended, thanks so much for having us!

Basecamp was a super place to stay as a base to explore Wales. Idyllic quiet location overlooking Snowdon. Tim & Tom were great hosts, friendly & helpful, offering local knowledge. All basic amenities you would need were available. The self-catering kitchen had everything you could need, along with tea, coffee, cereal and eggs laid by their chickens, with an honesty box for the suggested donations. My balcony overlooked Snowdon a great view. All the pictures on Basecamps site are a good an accurate representation of the property

This is a well run hostel owned by 2 brothers. They are gradually turning the place around after 2 years of Covid restrictions. The kitchen is newly tiled, kitted out with everything you need, even a cafetière. Organised with labels & boxes to keep your food separate. Nice meeting lounge with pool table & TV. Bedrooms are basic but comfortable. We had double bunk beds. Good clean showers. The owners are very helpful and have a good knowledge of the area too. Always happy to help you. Thanks for making us oldies welcome. Just note that this is cheep, hostel type accommodation, but well worth it. You can even feed the Alpaca’s!

First time visit and we loved definitely we will back, me and my wife love camping and hiking and this was a beautiful trip. We enjoy the view, the people the scenery. Can’t wait for next summer to go back

Superb location with beautiful views on Snowdonia mountain range. Value for money room, room with basic but very satisfactory comfort. Friendly staff. Well equipped and clean communal facilities such as kitchen and dining hall. Animals on site were a real bonus. The only downside was the behaviour of some guests who had no manners, were noisy, took over the whole kitchen without consideration for other guests, and guests not flushing the toilet.

Stayed for just a night with my daughter but wish we’d had longer! Spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped hostel in a nice setting. Lovely staff/owners (??). Can’t recommend enough and wouldn’t hesitate to return.
