Hotel Royal Village

Stayed here for a week and while Limone is a beautiful town on Lake Garda, this hotel is stuck in a different time. Its dated approach was out of date in the 1990s. We upgraded to one of the Blumen Villa rooms with a lake view. The room was modern but basic and let down by cracked tiles and shower tray in the bathroom. Apart from a small TV, there was a small fridge which didnt work. Not really worth a ‘Superior’ upgrade. The common areas of the hotel are very old fashioned and outdated. The pool areas are nice and open, but only one had a pool bar, from which you can’t get drinks and food to eat or drink in the pool areas. This is a half board hotel and this was where the real let down was for us. We love Italian food, but the hotel clearly caters for a certain type of guest, Elderly German Bus Trip Tourists & the menu reflects that. The dining room is large and has the atmosphere of a 1980’s M62 service area. Food was cold, bland and poor quality. Yes there is free house wine & beer but meal times where like school dinners, get in there, get it done and out again. There is an Italian Restaurant, which has to be booked, but again its a buffet and choices were bland apart from the pizzas. We visited at the end of the season so Limone was starting quieten down so outside the hotel there was little to do on an evening. We did attend an evening’s entertainment in the ‘Music Room’… think Phoenix Night’s Fever Dream & you have the idea! Guy on an electric piano pretending to play while signing Elvis & German covers. Others have mentioned the location up a steep hill. We didn’t have an issue. Others will and while the hotel does have a shuttle bus, charging 2 Euro each way for elderly guests (clearly your target market) was disappointing. Good points, staff nice & helpful but stop somewhere else.

Visited for one week in Sept and as the hotel is up a fairly steep hill from Limone the views from the room were very impressive but overall our experience was one of disappointment. We stayed on half board basis and first night ate in main restaurant and were disappointed with choices and quality of the food available which was warm but not hot. The following nights we ate in the Italian restaurant and although the pasta dishes were ok there were limited other choices of once again warm but not hot food. There is no show cooking in the restaurant so there were no fish dishes available during the week. On a positive note the staff in the restaurant were very helpful and efficient. There is a snack bar which offered decent dishes at lunchtime. The hotel does not provide facilities in the room to make a hot drink which again was quite surprising and very disappointing.

Don't come here for peace and quiet, they put a big speaker near the pool right below our lake view balcony, and they won't turn it off. It seems the new normal here. The dinner is buffet and nothing is hot, I rush to my table and try and eat quickly as possible before it's stone cold. Limone itself is very, Very busy and really there's much better options on the lake - Salo is far nicer. Allow for all ferries to be a half hour late.

We have just returned from our family holiday in this very special place. I have stayed in Limone many times but this was my first visit with children, and this hotel was ideal. Our family room was great. It was modern and very clean. The air conditioning was brilliant, and everything worked very efficiently. No problems with our room at all. The staff deserve a special mention as I feel as though they went above and beyond to make our stay so lovely. They helped make our little boy’s 2nd birthday a memorable day, and always met us with a smile. Nothing was a problem for them. They really did make our stay very special. The food was of a high standard in the main restaurant, and even better perhaps in the Italian restaurant. We really enjoyed our meals. The prices in the hotel bar / snack area were also very reasonable and again, food and service was high quality, The views are beautiful from this part of Limone (and every part of Limone in fact). Don’t be put off by the walk into town. Although on a hill, it is very pleasant, especially if you opt to walk alongside the waterfall. However, with two small children in tow and battling with the heat, we often opted to use the shuttle service, which was fantastic. Always on time with a very pleasant driver, and we never had to queue, even in August. Finally, if our children were old enough to write their own review, it would be 5 stars all the way! We could not get our little girl out of the pools and the mini disco every evening was also a highlight. Tears on the last night. We will definitely be back next year, and no doubt for many years to come. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Superb hotel with very friendly staff. We stayed in one of the Blumen rooms with lake view. The room was very modern with air conditioning. It was cleaned daily. There were 3 of us in the room and there was plenty of space. I have seen comments about the hotel being dated. Some areas were more 'traditional' shall we say but other areas were modern. It really is a lovely place. The only warning I would give is it is up a steep road, however there is a shuttle bus into the town regularly that will come back for you even if you can't get on at first. The whole of Limone is built on a steep slope so if you can't walk well you should really think twice before staying in Limone. We are quite fit and it was a good walk back up from the town, not far, just up a really steep hill. Food was excellent also and the pool areas very clean and well supervised. Highly recommended.

This hotel is horrible. Avoid it. -Rooms are extremely outdated, and smell of mold -Air Conditioning does not work and front desk refuses to address the issue - Possible bed bugs woke up covered in bites - 2 towels given for a room with 3 people booked as a triple room. When asked for a 3rd towel told no and that they can’t give every guest a towel. - Breakfast is terrible - Hotel does not provide any iron, steamer or allow any on property - 10€ cash only charge for use of beach towels - Hotel and bar refuse to provide ice, got screamed at by the bar manager after asking and tipping bar tender. This was after reception told me to ask the bar for ice. Bar manager has anger issues and is constantly screaming at hotel guests and employee’s. - All staff at the hotel including reception have no respect for guests and are very hostile all the time. Asked multiple times to speak to the manager to be given the run around. Told to come to the front desk to speak to the manager at specific times only to be told that the manager has left. I stay in hotels over 100 nights a year for work travel. This is by far the worst hotel in my life I have ever stayed at. They have no standards and I would very highly recommend not staying here.
