Ibis Styles Lille Centre Grand-Place

Bloody awful place. It would've been OK but for 1 things...the mosquitoes. Unusually warm October and left bedroom window open during the night. Woke up at 5am and there was literally loads of mossies in the room ..spent next hour squashing them all. Woke up in morning covered in 100's of bites ...on face, everywhere. Looks like a bad case of chicken pox. There should have been a warning somewhere or told not to open window at checkin. Paid a fortune for the room as well as it was the rugby world cup. Stayed 100m up the road a few weeks ago and didn't have this problem at all so must be unique to hotel. Room small and breakfast so-so.

The hotel has everything needed in it's essential. I consider that for the daily cost the products (shampoo, breakfast, etc.) can be improved. I you wish to sleep comfortably and having a hot shower it's the right place, but don't expect more.

The location was brilliant, near to the Chris**as market and shops. Breakfast was also good.

A ‘slimline’ Ibis Styles compared to others I’ve stayed in. Very friendly and helpful staff. Limited on site bar but coffee etc available all day which is great. Rooms overlooking back courtyard are small and nice and quiet but prone to mosquitos in season (anti mosquito atomiser provided). Rooms overlooking road are bigger and brighter but may get some street noise. Good quality continental breakfast included. Worth considering as it is very central and only a 10 min walk from Eurostar terminal.

Once we located it (I would recommend NOT USING GOOGLE MAPS) it is very well located using Opera House and Apple Store as landmarks and it is close to Lille Europe. Whilst the rooms are small and the lift even smaller it is not any different in size to any other city centre hotel I have stayed in. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the breakfast is perfectly adequate with freshly squeezed orange juice (you do have to request this it is not left out in the buffet area). Certainly had no complaints and would stay here again. My only small complaint is an a typical English tea drinker that the basic Thè was not available but this is a small ****** on what is otherwise a good value for money stay.

wonderful location, 10 minute walk from Lille Europe station & bang in the middle of quite compact city - adjacent to the opera house, and on same block as Apple Store. hotel clean & safe, with splash of style for somewhere so modestly priced. room had no safe but was secure & quiet, fairly sizeable for a French city. breakfast buffet fresh and varied, all staff lovely and efficient. would most certainly recommend.

Stayed in the Ibis Styles when visiting the Chris**as markets great location pretty much central for everything in Lille. Arrived well before check in time but the staff were brilliant and had our rooms ready so we could get showered and changed after an early start that we had that morning. Breakfast is fairly basic but ample and again the staff could not do enough to help. All in all very friendly very welcoming hotel in a central location.

The location of this hotel is great. You are literally just round the corner from Le Grande Place and only about 9 minutes’ walk from the Euralille station. The place is clean and rather small. Breakfast is included in the price, which is a bonus. Breakfast is a typical continental style with ham, cheeses, pastries, eggs, etc. it was perfectly fine. Six of us stayed here in six rooms over the weekend and found it a great base from which to explore the city. It was also a reasonable price and the staff were friendly and spoke English. There were two downsides (nowhere is perfect). Firstly, the heating in my room was very erratic. When we arrived it was 1C outside and my room was cold. I turned up the electronic control to 24C but it did absolutely nothing at all. Next morning at breakfast I reported this. 10 mins later I was told it had been checked and was working perfectly. I was curious. When I got back to my room I found the heating was still not working. The room was cold and even turning the thermostat to 28C produced no warm air from the grille whatsoever (even after waiting 20 mins). I therefore turned the thermostat down to 19C and went out for the day. When I got back I could see that somebody had turned the thermostat up to 27C and the room was exceptionally warm. I turned it down to 19C. The temperature dropped, and dropped until the room was quite cold again. Nothing I did could turn that heating back on. So I gave up. The second downside? The toilet paper in the bathroom was ridiculously small. Each square being a little over the size of a postage stamp. Come on Ibis. Install some proper toilet paper like people use at home. Apart from these two downsides, I would stay here again. My colleagues, who didn’t have problems with their heating, but who also commented on the toilet paper, would agree.
