Castletown Motel

Conveniently located on State Highway 1, this motel is extremely noisy as it is aligned to the road with only the car park and a strip of grass between the highway. There is a continuous trundling of heavy traffic night and day which results in broken sleep. On the plus side, there was a friendly welcome. The motel unit is clean although somewhat dated and there are all necessary facilities. A convenient place to stay, but I would not do so again on account of the noise. Also a little overpriced for the unit.

It's bang on what I would call a cheap and cheerful Motel. Located right on State Highway One in Foxton, the Motel is very easy to spot. Unfortunately being on the Highway means you do have to contend with the Road Noise, including the constant stream of Trucks overnight. Living in the quiet country, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to sleep. However, I really didn't find it too bad. The Owner at Reception was a very friendly, easy going Guy. Pleasure to deal with. Heaps of parking in front of all the units. The room was a pretty standard size, with Bathroom and Kitchenette. It had a Double Bed and a Single Bed. Unfortunately I found the bed to be pretty uncomfortable, being really bouncy and soft. I did manage some sleep though. The Kitchenette was well stocked with Pots, Pans and Utensils. You could definitely Cook for yourself using what was there. Everything was impeccably clean. Not even a stray hair in the bathroom to be found. All the Bedding was clean and fresh. TV had all the Freeview Channels. WiFi is advertised, however I could not pick up any Signal. Just wasn't there. Not a huge problem for me though. Located across the Road from a Dairy and Takeaway Shop, and also from a Bakery/Cafe. The New World Supermarket is located a short walk away. Foxton is brilliantly located only a short drive from Wellington, especially now on the new Motorways/Bypass. It makes a perfect stopping off point for those travelling to/from the Inter-Island Ferry. Very reasonably priced, and I will definitely not hesitate to stay again.
