Leenane Hotel

We stopped here for bar food on one of the particularly sunny days this summer. The service was reasonably good, as they were pleasant & efficient when they did come to our table. I suspect the staff were trying to cram in having lunch themselves, at that time, circa 2.30pm. This suggests a staff shortage. We went in and asked the man behind the bar if it was free seating. He replied in the affirmative. We sat, but nobody came to us with menus. We eventually went to the bar for them. We no sooner had them than a waitress appeared to take an order - we hadn't even had a chance to look at them!! The menu is ok with a reasonable choice & is not overly priced. The only disappointment with it was the shortage of fresh fish & salads. The food we got was very good, but again, no staff came to see if we wanted to order coffee or desserts. We had to go to the counter again to request menus.

This is my second visit to this fantastic hotel. The staff are truly exceptional and the food is so amazing and exceptional value for money. Overlooking Killary harbour the views are spectacular. I’m about to check out of the hotel but I had to write my review before my departure. I was here this time as part of a walking group and there were a few large groups here at the same time. I don’t know how the staff managed to be so nice and helpful whilst being so busy. I highly recommend a visit to this area and you won’t be disappointed with your stay at the Leenane Hotel. You can buy their amazing brown bread at reception , you have to pre order it.

This is a gem of a hotel in a stunning location on Killary fjord. It was a old coach inn and retains many of the lovely features of the old Inn. We had a room in the old building with high ceiling and sash window overlooking the water. There are newer rooms with balconies available. Great atmosphere-staff going over and above for everyone. Really nice food and seating outside available. Great value -will be back
