Leikanger Fjordhotel - Unike Hoteller

We originally planned to travel from Oslo to Bergen and take a fjord cruise while there. We decided to take the train to Flam and then ferry to Leikanger and spend a night on Sognefjord. It was a great choice. It is a beautiful village and a nice walking trail along the fjord. We learned that Leikanger was home to King Harald Finehair - a character that we met on the Vikings TV series. It includes an excellent breakfast and dinner at the hotel was excellent. The rooms are older but comfortable. The family room wasn't the one we expected - it had a view but it was smaller. For one night it was ok but we would have booked two rooms We were a little concerned that our ferry departure leaving at 4:30pm. However, the hotel staff was very accomodating and made us comfortable. We ordered pizza for lunch to eat outside on the picnic tables - to our surprise they brought it out with plates and silverware! The one night we stayed here was a highlight of our two weeks in Scandinavia.

As part of a bus tour I cannot speak to the check-in process or the value, however this is a small, quaint hotel in a small village on the Sognefjord. The room was comfortable and the bathroom modern. The food was very nice, the breakfast buffet was good, and the dining room was 3 rooms with some smaller tables and large tables for big groups.

This is an older hotel, but some aspects were really good. The bed was comfy, the staff extra nice - gorgeous food at dinner. Breakfast so so. Our room had a balcony and we could view the fjord and admire the mountains from there. It is a good hotel, just old.

A hotel, characteristic of Norwegian nature and culture! Based on this, you can browse through the village, admiring the unique landscape that invites you to enjoy it, either with the warmth of the sun or – most likely! – with the rain "lashing" your face! Let it fall on you, to feel the joy and greatness of contact with nature!

Absolutely stunning views from this hotel and super easy to get to by boat! We came across from Flåm on the ferry and the boat pulled right up to the hotel! Staff were lovely. They had another tour bus arriving for dinner on both nights so they put on a buffet dinner and it was nice. We did a hike while here and it was stunning! Bathroom needs a little updating. Bed was super comfortable.

Staff super friendly we stayed with a tour. Bag check inn was slow. Meal included was excellent. Position lovely on the fjord. facilities very poor nothing in room no fridge no coffee no fan no iron dim lights expensive drinks If you got a really good deal ok if not don't stay here.Probably Insight vacations stayed here because they got a good deal. There is nowhere else to eat or visit in this location. The room was clean.

I cannot recommend this little and wonderful hotel enough for the kind and thoughtful staff that work there, who made our trip perfect beyond perfect. Restaurant staff were excellent. Rooms are a throwback to the 1960's, but not a big deal. Wedding music and noise continued until past 3:00 AM. We were up two floors to avoid the worst, but some of our party were up all night as they were right above the venue. The only consolation offered when we checked in was ear plugs. Leikanger Fjordhotel could have at least offered a complimentary glass of beer or wine for good will!

Difficult to rate this hotel ….it definitely is a throw back , staff are all very friendly and generally cleanliness is good. But we booked two lakeside rooms for 3 people and the ‘one person’ had a double bed plus an extra one made up in the middle of the floor (there were lots of extra ‘put you up’ beds all over the hotel ) and no lift either! And there was no wardrobe or anything else (see photo for the only option) even in the shower room not a hook in sight. Dinner was a buffet which turned out to be ‘get there early ‘ in case the food runs out ! And unfortunately it did. It was tasty though….breakfast was very average ….the scrambled eggs were one solid mass …So I left those alone.not sure if there are other hotels in the area … but I don’t think I’ll come back here
