Palazzo Rollo

Once you visit, the Palazzo Rollo is one of those places that lingers in a pleasant corner of your mind, to recall when you want to remember something special. We first visited this place in 2019 and were so excited to return and introduce friends to this lovely spot. Owned by the same family over several generations, the hotel is a pleasant mixture of old and new and is perfectly situated as a base for exploring the beautiful town of Lecce. The rooms are individual in nature, with practical and period pieces delightfully mixed; the bathrooms are individual as well, with tiles and marble finishes. Thoughtful touches include a sweets dish and toiletries. Breakfast is buffet style, with a good assortment of pastries, breads, fruits, eggs, juices and hot beverages. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful and are wonderful assisting with restaurant and other requests. After a day of touring, we found our way up to the roof garden, an amazing space where hundreds of plants and flowers beautifully surround conversation areas and where drinks and snacks can be purchased. An amazing space to unwind and savor a sunset while sipping a spritz. If you are looking for a unique travel experience, this is the place.

The pros: an excellent location in the heart of Lecce. It’s contained in a large, leafy courtyard. The hotel is very interesting and maintains an entire floor of the palazzo in its original form. The rooftop terrace is filled with greenery and provides an excellent view of the basilica. The breakfast was robust and served in a beautiful dining room. Why three stars? One, the reception of the staff, which was unfriendly and bordered on rude. The woman at the front desk didn’t greet us, just handed us the key, and at high speed, told us how to use it, and then started working on her computer. She did not offer any other information. We later received a map from someone else. Second, the room, called Iris, was dingy and inadequate. It reminded me of my dorm room in the 1970s. The shower was impossibly tiny and there’s a large, limp piece of fabric hanging on the wall which served, I guess, as a headboard. If you stay, avoid a room facing the street, which although brighter, would be noisy. Also note they are closed for three hours midday, so you need to make special arrangements to leave your luggage if you arrive between 1:00 and 4:00. It is difficult to understand how a hotel or BnB simply shuts down like this. Lastly, the hotel should provide some written information on the history of the hotel. The building is amazing.

Absolutely Fabulous Hotel! Phenomenal Location. The room was spacious and had a great view of the bell tower and Duomo. The roof top terrace is magnificent. However, the best thing about the hotel was the staff. Everyone was so helpful from the front reception desk to the individual who assisted me with my luggage as well as the wait staff at breakfast. The front desk was extremely pleasant and assisted me tremendously in arranging transportation to various places. They were always available and responded promptly to all my inquiries. I would most definitely return.

If you look up the word palazzo it's definition is 'a grand residence' and Palazzo Rollo fits that description perfectly. Impressive place. The interior courtyard (3 stories) is draped in vines and flowers, creating quite a first look. We walked through 3 beautfilu sitting rooms to get to our room, which had a study and bedroom. Ceilings had to be 20 ft (6m) high. Antiques everywhere. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was fine, coffee excellent. You are right in the center of the historic district so everything is close. Great stay. 2 nights in June, not totally overrun with people despite being a weekend. Almost forgot! Rooftop garden is lovely, open for drinks from 6p-8p. Guests only.

Our stay at Palazzo Rollo was beyond our expectations. Our room was upgraded. A truly beautiful room in a palace where the dinning room etc was full of lovely personalised family treasures. The roof terrace looks towards the Duomo. Go at 6.30 for a cocktail and snacks. A gardeners delight. The staff were exceptional. Palazzo Rollo is the perfect base for exploring the city of Lecce. It's elegantly renovated and has a beautiful terrace with a view of the campanile for guests to enjoy their aperitivo. The breakfast buffet is lavish. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
