The Whiteface Lodge

I’ve visited in the winter and the summer and love it both ways! Both are so beautiful. I love the coziness in the winter. They have s’mores by the (many) fireplaces most nights, ice skating, a luxurious spa, movie theater, game room, pool and hot tubs! The pool and hot tubs are heated year round. It’s super fun to go in the hot tubs while it’s snowing outside! The hotel has everything, we rarely left the property. Highly recommend!

Great stay with family over spring break. There Alot of things to do. Resort is beautiful and clean. The staff was very nice. The breakfast buffet was included and delicious. 2 restaurants on property, both were good. Bowling Alley and Game Room were great. The movie theater was awesome. Only negative thing was the pool heater was broken.

We stay here every year but this year was even better than usual. The new general manager Michael Allen is very present and personally takes the time to greet guests as he makes his rounds. The entire breakfast serving staff was particularly helpful and Adna even remembered our names from prior years. The servers in the bar area were excellent as well which as a big upgrade from prior years. We'll be back next year!

There is so much to love about this place. Gorgeous roaring fires in 2 huge fireplaces in the dining room. Just a wonderful, woodsy, old fashioned log hotel with tons of charm. Our room was more of a small apt - spacious living dining and kitchen area, with fireplace, 2 bathrooms, big bedroom and lovely porch overlooking snow touched woods. Sumptuous bed. Loads of cute touches- s'mores, welcome coffee, hot choclate and snacks. A movie theatre, outdoor spa and pool, and fun bar. Friendly attentative staff. The only complaint we had was the food. I shared a $15 green salad and $49 flank steak with my husband. Salad was nothing more than green lettuce overdressed with balsamic and olive oil. The steak was a small portion and tough, as well as sloppily plated. It came with a warm 'salad' of potato and brussel sprouts, which was mostly blue cheese cream, and an unwelcome surprise since it wasn't mentioned on the menu. Thorough disappointment. I would be great to see something on the menu using high quality ingredients, simply prepared. Indeed the dinner menu is quite limited. I presume restaurants are still having a hard time getting experienced kitchen staff. Otherwise we loved this little gem of a lodge.

Whiteface Lodge is the ideal destination for a magical wintry weekend getaway! From the moment you arrive until you are checking out, the staff are welcoming and make you feel like you’re at home. Mirror Lake is only a 1.5 mile walk and offers a 3-mile loop around the lake with quaint shops and delicious eats. The spa at Whiteface Lodge is extraordinary and relaxing and offers tandem couples massages along with steam rooms and saunas within the spa sanctuaries. Dinner at Kanu is a must with its tantalizing menu and majestic views within the grand dining room with vaulted ceilings, cozy fireplaces, and Adirondack-themed decor. The rooms are spacious and have the feel of a private log cabin for the perfect combination of romance and relaxation.

Been visiting here every year for the past 5 years and I have to say this will be the last. The service was terrible. The food at KENU and peak totally S….D … Took forever and was cold . Oh… and after we told waitress a person had allergens they still brought out the dish with NUTS!! . The room rates were ridiculous for what you got . The spa ****** ! New years dinner was $130 a person -never complain about money as we stay at ritz Carlton’s around the world……. But this was worse than local any Buffet . I’d like to apologize for all the negativity but if it wasn’t new years I’d prob spit on the waitress as she was a totally rude. But Beyond rude ! As if we were bothering her …. Our fire place was broke the rooms were dark. Lighting terrible ! The game room is dirty and games broken . Food all over the floor . I could go on and on but this is a waste of my time . Oh and back to the terrible cold, hard, disgusting buffet ….. We will never come back . Stay at the mirror lake it’s beautiful and cheaper . Even 3 star hotels in the area are nicer than this hotel . Can’t wait to leave this place tomorrow! White face lodge I hope you read this !!! You should be ashamed ! Your hotel sucks ! I believe we paid over 1500 a night for 4 nights. Total joke !!

We were so looking forward to our Christmas dinner at Whiteface Lodge. When we arrived, we were very much impressed with the grandeur of the Lodge and the impressive space that the Kanu restaurant sits in. It was like walking into Yosemite’s Tenaya Lodge but more impressive. We selected this location for Christmas dinner based on listings of the best Christmas dinners in the area. We knew in advance that the Christmas dinner was going to be a buffet which was not a problem. We expected it to be quite nice considering the location and the cost (per person: $100.00) which was also not a problem. The festive decor was somewhat of a distraction to the reality of what we were about to experience. Once we sat down, the “server” took our drink order and then we headed off to the buffet. First stop, getting a bowl of quite good Butternut Squash soup. Then a visit to what con only be described as a sad excuse for a Charcuterie Board. It was a mess with little selection of cheeses, meats, crackers and other items one would expect in a place like this. It appeared to be ransacked by kids and, as I said, a complete mess. The staff should have paid more attention to how this first station was being kept up. I did get some cheese and a few other things that were less-than-impressive. After I finished that, I went back to the carving station where they had a choice of turkey or prime rib. I opted for the turkey, which was very dry. I asked where the gravy was and they had none. There were limited sides, so I got some mashed potatoes and broccoli gratin (both were good). I also tried the salmon which had no flavor and was extremely dry. We sat down to consume the food, saw the “server” one more time to fill up my water glass. Did not go back for more food as the only other options were rice pilaf and brussels sprouts (no thank you). No bread options either. Now for a visit to the dessert table. For $100 per person, we expected some pretty fabulous desserts. That was not the case. Everything was in bite sizes, very simple, and of the few options. Not even any cakes or pies (except for something with apples that was cut up into smaller pieces). When the check came, we were shocked to find that a 20% gratuity was added to the bill. I am sorry but for a buffet when we saw the “server” twice, we served ourselves and I even had to place my used plates on another vacant table, paying over $40.00 for “service” that you would get at a Las Vegas buffet is highly unreasonable. No wonder the service was poor since there is no motivation for the “server” to do anything above and beyond. We would certainly never go back for such a dinner and warn all who are considering Whiteface Lodge for Christmas dinner to go with low expectations.

Everything was perfect: spotlessly clean, delicious food, above-and-beyond kind and helpful staff (from bar tenders to valet to front desk to housekeeping to the manager). Our room was gorgeous, comfortable. We have stayed in a number of the "finest" resorts in Vermont and they were all nice, but nowhere near the level of service, comfort, amenities, and cleanliness as White Face Lodge. We had some snafus unrelated to the lodge (car breakdown for example) and they helped us get it fixed and returned to the lodge like magic. I am deeply grateful for having had this time there. I am deeply grateful that we will be able to return.

5 Star experience from start to finish. Beautiful property with many dining options, indoor/outdoor pool, 3 movies per day in the quiet movie theatre, game room for kids, room were very well maintained and exceptionally quiet. We did not hear another person walk by during our 4 day stay. OUR Valet, Norton, met me at my vehicle and unloaded all of our bags and took great care of us during our stay. . Brought me vehicle to me within minutes of asking throughout whole stay. Highly recommend this property and will definitely return.
