Lake Fyans Holiday Park

A very unpleasant and disappointing experience for what was supposed to be one of the highlights of our holiday. We booked for three nights in a one bedroom village cabin but only stayed for one night due to the very strong smell of bushfire smoke impregnated into all the fabrics in the cabin - lounge, carpet and bedding- which left us coughing most of the night. The cabins quoted rate was very expensive for a fairly old and somewhat shabby cabin. Aircon was ancient and so noisy it was unable to be used at night (owner/manager Darren’s response was “oh poor you”). The overhead fan in the bedroom had had the blades removed so there was no cooling at all. We were offered a refund but when it eventually arrived it was much less than expected and our one nights stay cost us $195.00, a much higher rate than the original. No explanation of this reduction was received.

Visitors have to pay $10 per head. We are both in our 70s, pensioners and wanted to call in and visit friends that were staying at this park. We were only wanting to stay an hour but the rather rude office lady wasn't interested in what we said. Pay $20 for the two of us or don't go in. We have travelled extensively around Australia in our van and have never come across this before. The park looked nice enough but I wouldn't recommend it. G'day Parks said each park creates their own charges and they have no say in it.

Great cabin close to lake fayan. The cabins were small but had everything. The games room were a hit with the kids especially the table tennis table. The arcade games needed coins. The staff were helpful and friendly. The bathroom was also very small but was heated.

It's my first time at this Caravan Park. Won't come back and will not recommend it to anyone. We chose this location because of the lake; we assumed that the kayaks that were hanging on a stand (dirty with spider webs) would be available for hire. we asked the lady in the office, and we were told that the following day it would be available (mind you, it is the pick time of the holiday, 24/12!!!), but nothing was available, and we ended up not using the lake. That was a huge disappointment. The owner of the caravan park (can't remember her name - she is a blond lady, looks in her 50's) was very lazy, making you feel that everything is an effort. It seems like the owners don't care about anything. The swimming pool was a disgrace!! dirty!! couldn't swim in it without swallowing bugs and leaves... On the door of the office, there were hours of opening. We had to go around the caravan park to look for the owner (when the office was supposed to be staffed), as we needed the pull table balls. Eventually, we found the lazy owner who was PARTING AT THE HALL AND BUSY!! She didn't even apologies she wasn't in the office. So disrespectful!! Taking a high price for Zero service. Next time in the Halls gap, definitely go to the Big 4. It's much better!

Booked this place well in advance leading up to school holidays, we were coming from Geelong to visit family for the weekend, when booking told them we had dogs nothing was mentioned that this was going to be an issue, then we rang a day ahead just to clarify we had dogs again after having to fill out a stay form and were told no dogs in peak times which is fine, so we cancelled the booking. Management were rude and wouldn’t give us a refund as we didn’t give 30 days notice and then was kicking up a storm about giving a credit. Very understanding about the no dogs it’s more about the rude abrupt staff. Will not be trying to re booking here.

Park Manager …Sheryl wonderful and very helpful… along with Assistant Park Managers Daniel and Rochelle.. Beautiful place to stay for a night or a week.. caravan or cabin.. the Lake itself over looking The Grampians.. is breath taking..quiet and peaceful this time of year, winter…
