Charming, quirky, convenient.....Charming cottage (Jacaranda Cottage) that my niece and I rented to attend Pageant of the Masters. The cottage has everything that you could want--comfortable furniture, lush gardens, and a lot of little conveniences that make it easy to stay. It is , however, very quirky. Because it is a very old cottage, there are issues- as in neither the bathroom door nor the bedroom door closed completely...the floor tilts, and there are too many remotes to figure out what they all go to. Of course, the remote issue could be rectified if things were labeled as to what they go for, that the remote for the mini-split AC unit is actually on the wall, and NOT just a thermostat (which we thought it was. We had to call Connie -who was a bit annoyed and surly with my niece for not understanding about the AC unit-and she told us to "just take it off the wall and point it at the unit")..and then there were the unlabeled light switches, which actually controlled the ceiling fans...took us a day to figure those out. LOL And then there is the ancient plumbing in the bath. Scalding water, lots of knobs to figure out which one did what. The noise from Coast Highway eventually calmed, so that was not much of an issue. Perhaps the biggest issue we had was that my niece actually got stuck in the bathroom. We had a good laugh about it--seriously good laugh, and eventually got the door unstuck. Even with these little initial inconveniences that could be easily rectified with some updated info provided, and now that we know how things work, my niece and I both agreed it was a perfect place to stay. Within walking distance to everything that we wanted to do and see. The gardens are quite lovely with all these wonderful places to sit and enjoy a glass of wine, or mimosas, as we did.
