Hotel & Spa des Gorges du Verdon

Rooms are tiny, renovated in a hurry with cheap furnishing/equipment (glasses are from Ikea). We had to store our luggage in the car as one large-ish suitcase would block the hallway passage for even one person as you will see in the attached pictures. At breakfast, frozen pastries are served (one day they were still frozen in the middle) and the quality of the cold cuts is poor. The breakfast was exactly the same every day (no variation) for our entire stay (3 nights). Service (at the reception) is indifferent and room cleaning inconsistent (one day they forgot adding a water bottle, another day, a towel and the cleaning face wipes and by the third day, we run out of soap- the bottles were far from full when we arrived). On the day we were not given water, I tried to refill my (really small) bottle at the tap at the reception (with flavoured water). A gentleman promptly took my bottle, emptied it and refilled it with tap water saying I am not allowed to fill it there. I did not argue and went in the village to buy water. The spa area is equally tiny and we shared it with a very noisy group of young people on the only day we used it. They were running, laughing and jumping in the pool, splashing water all over. The whole spa experience was completely ruined for us by the yelling group. The staff (completely indifferent) did not care about the comfort of the other guests and did not intervene. The hammam fits about 4 people comfortably and has a very restrictive schedule (3-7 p.m). The positive thing is the hotel’s location, cleanliness and the nice views. On the small balcony, our room had the noise and the smell from the kitchen as it was immediately next to it. The only person who was genuinely friendly was the gentleman serving the breakfast; unfortunately he could not compensate by himself for the rest. The price is huge for the poor quality offered, the service is borderline hostile and I still have blue spots on my leg as I hit myself against the furniture trying to make space for my partner to pass. Will not return and recommend everyone to avoid it.

An absolutely fantastic hotel in a corner of France that generally lacks luxury accommodations. Could easily be a Relais & Chateau. Wonderfully pleasant service, excellent food. Altogether great experience in an absolutely stunning setting.

We used *********** to find a place to stay our second night in France (after we left Nice) and while driving around le Gorges du Verdon, my 17 year old found this hotel. It was a little pricier than our other hotel choices but worth every penny. After we booked the room, I got a call from the hotel to confirm our reservation and ask if we wanted dinner reservations. We were greeted warmly when we checked in and quickly checked into our room. We were amazed by the view from our balcony and couldn't stop staring but we were late and the kitchen was closing so we went to the restaurant where we got to continue to enjoy the view. The food was excellent and we enjoyed sitting on the terrace, enjoying the lovely weather. The only thing I was disappointed by was the fact that they were fully booked the next night and couldn't accommodate it us for two nights. I didn't plan ahead so it was my own fault and how could we have known this place was so lovely. We didn't get to enjoy the pool or the spa but did do a quick hike to the local village, La Pelud sur Verdon before getting in the car to drive to Provence. As we checked out the gal asked us where we were going and when I said the town nearby, she said there had been a fire and recommended that we choose elsewhere to go so we did. Parking was easy too. Breakfast was your typical French breakfast fare but with a gorgeous view. I think this would be a great place for a destination wedding.

Très bon restaurant. Nous, nous avons trouvé que la cuisine était fine est très bien exécutée (carré d'agneau et bar excellents par exemple, bon vin au verre)... On s'est régalé (on fréquente souvent des étoilés Michelin, on sait de quoi on parle), Service sympathique et efficace. On a bien aimé et on reviendra. Nous n'avons pas dormi à l'hôtel, donc on ne peut pas juger cette partie.

Wir waren für 2 Nächte in diesem Hotel. Mit fällt die Einschätzung der Punktvergabe etwas schwer, habe mich aber für Punkte entschieden, weil die Kritikfähigkeit der Geschäftsführung völlig unprofessionell und inakzeptabel ist. Kurz die Bewertung: modernes und neu gestaltetes Hotel, vielleicht zum Teil mit einfachen Materialien, aber modern und zeitgemäß. Der Spa-Bereich ist klein aber für das Umfeld/Größe des Hotels angemessen. Frühstück ist, obwohl hier der Gast seine Verpflegung komplett selber in die Hand nehmen muss, inkl. das Kochen des Hühnereis und die Kaffeezubereitung. Breites Sortiment, durchschnittlich gutes Frühstück, Personal ausreichend vorhanden. Abendessen: Die Mitarbeiter sind im Gegensatz zur Geschäftsführung (Senior Geschäftsführerin und Tochter) sehr freundlich und mehrsprachig. Sie sind aber nicht gut geschult. Wein wird nicht nachgeschenkt, obwohl nicht viel zu tun war, es wird stets von der falschen Seite oder wie es gerade besser passt serviert oder abgeräumt. Essen kamen nicht zeitgleich. Preise für das Essen sehr gehoben, aber nicht die Qualität. Viel Schein als sein. Fast alle Vorspeisen werden nur kalt angeboten. Die kommen dann direkt aus der Kühlung und sind schon am Vorabend zubereitet worden, zumindest schmeckt es so. Die Hauptgänge waren ok und lecker. Nachspeisen sie Vorspeisen. Der Empfang war unprofessionell und unhöflich. Wir wurden kurz begrüßt: Ach da sind Sie ja und dann wurden wir alleine gelassen. Gepäck mussten wir selber holen mit dem Verweis, das vorne ein Gepäckwagen steht. Wir waren die ersten Gäste der Saison, Zimmer waren trotzdem um 14.00 Uhr nicht fertig. Check in zwar erst um 15.00 Uhr, aber dennoch spricht nichts dagegen die Zimmer fertig zu haben. Der Personal ist sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich, gerade bei der Hilfe von Sehenswürdigkeiten oder Touren. Professionelle Empfehlung mit vorbereiteten Touren gibt es dennoch nicht, da wird auf das Tourismus Office verwiesen. Der Gipfel der Unverschämtheit war dann, dass wir um 22.15 Uhr aus dem Restaurant geworfen wurden. Das Hotel und der Restaurantbereich inkl. Bar (warum haben die überhaupt eine Bar???) wurden dann abgeschlossen, man fühlt sich wie eingeschlossen. Ich hatte dann ein schroffes Gespräch mit der Tochter der GF, die unfreundlich und arrogant darauf verwies, das jetzt geschlossen ist und ihr es egal ist, wenn andere Hotels üblicher Weise länger geöffnet haben. Dann war keiner mehr im Hotel zugegen. Für ein 4-Stern Haus unmöglich. Wir konnten dann nur noch unsere angebrochene Flasche Wein, die wir im Restaurant noch bestellen durften auf unserem Zimmerbalkon zu Ende trinken. Es waren zu dem Zeitpunkt 8 Grad! Die Zimmer sind passabel eingerichtet, allerdings befindet sich in der Olive Suite die Toilette im Zimmer, wo die Kinder schlafen, das heißt hier mussten wir unsere Kinder immer wieder stören. Die Zimmer sind zudem hell und nicht richtig abdunkelbar. Die Vorhänge und Jalousien reichen nicht aus. Ich habe dies alles bei der

Bel établissement mais c'est de la poudre aux yeux, l'établissement ouvre le 18/04 pour la saison nous arrivons le lendemain donc tout est censé être nickel dans cet hôtel 4 étoiles **** apparemment saisonnier, dans la chambre quelques défauts mais passons... La douche un pommeau pas détartré, le restaurant catastrophique même si les étoiles de l'hôtel n'ont rien avoir avec le restaurant je pense qu'il y a un minimum de standing à tenir, des miettes sur la table dès notre arrivé, j'ai eu l'impression qu'on me servait des fonds de frigo sans assaisonnement,aucune saveur, problème sur les cuissons,et ça de l'entrée au dessert à des prix exorbitant pour ce qu'il y a dans l'assiette. Ca ne me dérange pas de mettre le prix, mais je ne devrais rien avoir à dire ! Des noms pompeux qu'on ne retrouve meme pas dans l'assiette... Et le petit déjeuner ahhhh le petit déjeuner 23€par personne!!!! Donc on s'attend à une belle prestation, mais non! des fromages industriels sans saveur, sortie du paquet mis dans une assiette des fruits surgelés sortie d'une poche en plastique, les saucisses de volailles oeufs brouillés horrible.... Vraiment grosse déception pour notre seul jour de vacance de l'été gâché par cet établissement se disant 4*, le luxe n'est absolument pas au rendez-vous ! les épicuriens passez votre chemin....! Grosse déception une nuit à plus de 500€ hôtellerie restauration confondu ça pique quand on est déçu ! le personnel gentil mais mal géré car il y a pas mal de stagiaires cependant peu de management. Je précise qu'un offert de 19€ nous a été fait cependant ça ne palie pas cette immense colère d'avoir été pris pour des portefeuilles ambulants!!!!
