The first impression of the neighbourhood when we arrived was to be honest awful. The street leading to the hotel was barely passable due to huge potholes and deep mud and as we did not have 4WD we could not park in front of the hotel (as we would have been stuck in the mud instantly). This also meant that you could not get from the car to the hotel (and vice versa) without getting your shoes covered with very sticky mud. Fortunately the impression started to change (quickly) once we entered the gate. We were met with very friendly staff who let us (me, my wife and our 5YO daughter) choose the room, showed us around and introduced to the services available. We later also met the owner Fiorella who was also super friendly and gave us good tips concerning restaurants and sights in Salinas. Just FYI - there is basically nothing nearby so you either take your car out or order in (Uber Eats worked nicely). The room was large but basic, no TV but air-conditioned. To our surprise we found mushrooms growing from the ceiling in the first morning (these were not there in the evening) but that's the result of the climate - very humid and hot. The breakfast was quite typical but tasty and satisfied our needs. The garden of El Faro is like another world with all the rescued birds and animals. They are doing great work helping the rescued wildlife to have a good life and seeing the cute kinkajou was one of the fondest memories of our entire Ecuador trip for our daughter. The terrace by the ocean and the small beach were our favorite place to hang out and relax. It is possible to swim on the beach but only when the tide is low, during the high tide the beach disappears and it's too dangerous to go into the water. So in conclusion there are mixed feelings - the muddy surroundings were really annoying but on the other hand everything else was great and quite different from your usual hotels. I think that I would stay there again if ever in Salinas and if the streets will be fixed then it would be an absolute gem in the area. You need to have a car to stay there, though, as it is far from everything.

It was a great discovery, it was better than I was looking for. I could enjoy the forest and animals in that place, far from the City routine that I was expected. Congrats to Gabriel and their friendly staff.

This place is beautiful. Wonderful service and the owner is a great guy. Had an engaging and interesting conversation with him. The view in the back is gorgeous and I love the animals. The best place to stay close to the beach and nature. I will definitely come again. Also, the food took a little while but definitely worth it. You can tell that the food is fresh and made with care.

This place is special it’s like going in to a different mystic place it reminds me of the show fantasy Island , The owner it’s so nice and if you have any problems he will get it fix sap , he gave us a tour of the area and he recommended we’re we can eat , the food at his place it’s clean and good I recumbent at least 2 nights on this place

Beautiful little hotel with great service surrounded by animals with a private beach. The ceviche de pescado is amazing! And even better when the little monkeys come to visit to the table 😍 The hotel is also a refugee for all the animals that live here!

Best Hotel with a phantasic garden full of exotic animals. Very friendly and helpful owner and pleasant personal. We enjoyed the stay and had a good relaxed time. Opposite of the Lodge is a nice restaurant with delicious meal and also very friendly service.

There is a fabulous hotel in Salinas-El Faro, an ecological lodge right on La Milina beach in Salinas. My brother-in-Law Chuck and his friend David stayed there, and it is incredibly unique and a great place to stay. It is a lodge surrounded by trees the Peacocks, a variety of other birds, squirrel monkeys, turtles, etc. Quiet for sleeping but fun in the daytime! The breakfast was absolutely delicious, great coffee, and an incredible view of the ocean from a special seating area. Great for friends, family, gatherings, and celebrations. My brother-in-Law and his friend both loved it, and I do too! I highly recommend this unique and special Ecuadorian experience when you visit Salinas-it’s one of a kind! Gabriel, the owner, is very welcoming and can also help you arrange outings in the Salinas area. English and Spanish spoken there! So don’t miss your chance to book a room!

Para ser el #1 de Salinas en trip advisor dejó mucho que desear, $190 me cobraron por una noche una habitación para mi esposa, mis 3 hijos y yo. Para comenzar las calles de acceso al hotel estan totalmente destruidas, con pozos profundos de agua estancada, si van en auto lo mas probable es que se queden atorados en un bache. El cuarto no contaba con televisión y en el desayuno solo nos dieron pan con huevo y mantequilla, ni siquiera queso, jamón o fruta como un desayuno continental normal. El hotel al tener abundante vegetación esta lleno de mosquitos y moscas, le pondría calificación pésima pero la administradora fue bastante amable y siempre atenta que fue lo salvable. Mi calificación está basada en el alto precio vs. el bajo valor entregado, quizas un costo de $80 se acercaba más a lo ofrecido por el hotel.
