This hotel was booked for us by our travel agent for a one night stay at Kumarakom. When we arrived we were initially a little concerned about the location, as it was not in the main road and instead, the access to the property is through a narrow lane that runs parallel to a canal which is a tributary of the giant Vembanad Lake, and which had several houseboats docked alongside. The entrance to the property was on the left and right opposite the gate was a beautiful houseboat bearing the same name as the hotel, presumably owned by the same management. Any doubts that we may have had were dispelled as soon as the car entered the gate. The property stands on breathtakingly beautiful grounds. On the right is the main hotel block while right opposite it are huge lawns, with a swimming pool on one side and a giant pond on the right, with coconut trees lining the entire periphery. Our check in was quite smooth and efficient and soon we were escorted up to our room on the second floor, which was a two bedroom suite and very spacious. The entry was through a living area that also had a queen sized bed. The master bedroom was inside, separated by a bathroom in the middle of the two rooms. The two rooms, though not very large on their own individually, gave a sense of space when taken together as one unit. Our balconies overlooked the hotel grounds with the pond and the pool, which made for a very pleasant view. In the master bedroom there was a wardrobe, a bedside luggage rack and a corner table with a bottle of water and tea-coffee making amenities. Overall it was a cozy room. However, wifi wasn't available on the second floor and we had to depend on our mobile data, which, thankfully, was working well. In the evening we explored the grounds of the hotel and clicked a lot of pictures. There were a couple of cats on the property which kept to themselves. There were also some ducks on the lawns by the side of the pond. I even spotted a pond heron close to the ducks. The hotel was on very low occupancy and accordingly, the kitchen wasn't working full capacity. The dining options were quite limited so we opted to have our lunch and dinner outside in a local restaurant. The breakfast next morning, however, was quite good. Fresh pineapple juice, followed by Poori Bhaji, Omelette and toast, and coffee, all served at the table. Due to low occupancy there was no buffet. All the staff that we interacted with - the lady who checked us in and escorted us to our room, the bellboy who handled our luggage, the lady from housekeeping, the restaurant service staff at breakfast, and the gentleman who handled our checkout - were all extremely polite and helpful. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and I wouldn't mind staying here again if I ever do this circuit another time.
