There are places in life where you wish to return, and 'Senja hostel' is definitely not one if them. When we just came in, we were greeted by a cheerful sound of loud argument of the Philippine receptionist with one of the customers. That sound, as we were about to find out, was quite constant in the place, which is already quite noisy itself. So, I do recommend you to stay in Senja hostel if you wish to hear all kinds of noises - outside music at 1 am, beeping vehicles throughout the day and night, the noises of stuff shouting at the customers - the choice is yours. Honestly speaking, I thought this cup would pass from us, but I was so wrong. I had all the pleasure to fully experience the scam they pull in the hostel. I am sure anyone can have a similar experience, just follow these easy instructions: - ask at the reception for a travel adapter. - pay 40 MYR for three pieces (that's how many we needed for the family). Keep wondering why the price is so high and is not divided into three. Listen to the receptionist tell you they would give you everything back when it's time for you to check out. They are still so polite and smiling at that stage, but they won't give you any note or receipt. Nothing to prove that you gave them your money. The cameras stop working at that moment. - after 2 weeks of stay bring back the adapters and expect the stuff to give you back your 40 MYR. Watch how amazingly short is the memory of these people - they will give you 10 MYR instead of 40. What is more, you will have extraordinary cultural experience at that point - they will call you all kinds of insults, "a lier, dishonest, too young to have an opinion". These people are not ashamed to use obsolete words and mention God and police in vain when talking to their customers. - as you have noticed, the whole attraction will cost you mere 30 MYR. Enjoy your stay! PS This place is full of surprises, so your personal experience with these people might be somewhat different - say, they may steal a larger amount of you, or will think of another way to scam you, so please be careful and always ask for a receipt (which I doubt they would give you).
