Resort Bonaire

I was initially in disbelief when I found Resort Bonaire as it seemed too good to be true. Large apartment style hotel with multiple rooms at a great price. Overall we had a great experience. The rooms are large and spacious. There are multiple pools. Front desk staff are very friendly. Unfortunately there are some minor issues. The rooms are minimally stocked for towels and toilet papers. The air conditioning is only in the bedrooms. Some parking spots are hard to access all the doors on your vehicle. Overall it's a great hotel in an excellent location.

Was a bit worried about this place due to previous reviews. But was pleasantly surprised. We are a family of 5 that stayed in 2 bedroom corner unit on 2nd floor (abunda). We were here for 8 nights. We liked our unit, it has a massive corner balcony that had it own outside living room, tanning beds, and dining table. On the inside was a living room, dining room and well appointed kitchen. We found the staff to be friendly and responsive. There were only 2 issues during our stay. The wifi basically stopped working on our 5th night, and they were unable to repair during our stay (so had to go to bar for wifi). I also wished the blankets and bedding was better. The kids loved the pool. There is a grocery store 2 minute walk away. We'd easily go back here.

We loved our stay on Bonaire and Resort Bonaire has a good location and the staff is very kind. I would NOT describe it as luxury. Housekeeping tries but I think there are just not enough staff. Service was hit and miss, I had to search out things like toilet paper and clean towels. The room was cleanish. There were some glaring issues like mould on the kitchen chairs, filthy drapes, stained mattress and exterior seating both broken and too dirty to contemplate using. We were ground floor middle unit facing the street so the patio area was impossible to clean with the broom and vacuum provided. The road dust constantly accumulated then add rain and wet gear… it was nasty. I asked for a mop but none was available. That location also meant the only outside air was through the patio door which did not get any breeze. We had to run fans and air conditioning or the room smelled of mould. There isn’t any fix for that issue as it was location related. The good…location, decent furnishings and decor, friendly staff, great rinse tanks for dive gear… exterior secure gear storage would also be a welcome addition.

If you want to spend Caribbean vacation at the parking place in front of the trash that is the place for you! No cleaning, no security! Local drug ******* steal staff from the balconies. Highly not recommended!

I was on the Island of Bonaire for business and the office pointed me to this resort/hotel. It is a combination of apartments at the back end of the property and hotel rooms in the main building to the front. The reception staff was friendly but busy with all kinds of things. It made me feel like they had to rush so to continue their errands. But I must say the service was swift and my room was two steps away from the front desk so within just a few minutes I was in my room. My room was spacious and clean with a double bed that felt good, a shower and closet space. It had a little fridge and a safe. The air conditioning worked well and kept the room really cool so I slept without using it. The Wi-Fi was terrific! All in all, the basic amenities where present. However, the room had some serious downgrades. The main window, covering the complete length of the room, faced the street which was the front of the hotel at the main entrance. The window had no curtain, just three roller blinds. So, I was afraid to turn on my lights in the evening as I suppose people outside could see my silhouette. This also made it impossible to keep the room dark in the morning. The room was very noisy. You could hear everything going on at the front desk or outside at the main entrance. The night guard came in front of the building to make telephone calls or play with his smart phone and that was clearly audible in the room. Though I must say that after 10 pm it quieted down. The shower was clean, but the water pressure was low, and it produced only lukewarm water. But, being from the region myself, I know that warm water in the mornings is a luxury. The provided information was limited. They had an app that you could install, and it helped, but not everybody is keen to download all kinds of apps on their smart phone. Parking on the property was a problem. All the tourists on the island rent cars and all the resort guests park their rentals on the property. In case you arrive late, it is difficult to find a parking space. In my opinion if you are in no hurries, as a vacation is supposed to be, this resort is fine. However, if you have to start early and therefore wants to crash in early for a good night’s rest, this hotel is not the best in town. Still, I believe that the downgrades of the room I mentioned are quite easy to fix to make the hotel part of the complex attractive also to business travellers.

The SunSand Bar Restaurant was excellent. Setting is relaxed and casual yet the food is very fresh and outstanding. The chef prepared the food with just the right amount of seasonings. We will be back soon!! PS Drinks were great as well.

it wants to be a luxurious resort, however the beds are made of cardboard, you can hear the neighbors snoring, the apartments are on top of each other, not maintained, mold on the bathroom ceiling. cleaning is done once a week, no shower gel no shampoo. Nothing. Funny definition of luxury. the towel for the swimming pool is in exchange for a deposit of $25 and $3 if you want to change it. I would not come back here because there are better and cheaper on the island just have to do it in advance

So tonight 17 of July i went to buy a beer and i was in the neighborhood, so i asked the the dutch pizza ladys kindly if they sell any drinks here, she told me yes, at the bar so i asked where the bar was so she told me, so i walked to the bar there was a group of white people assuming all are dutch, so i stand there for someone to helm me, so i see the bartender looking at me, he was a white dutch old person, kept looking at me, im there waiting for him to do his job, so i stay there at lest 3-4mins everyone els had their drinks, so i wasn't imported at the time, a LOCAL person was nothing for him, but his white buddy where! i felt for the first time sooooo disgusted!! that place is only for dutchies!

The hotel was super noisy, sleeping was near impossible. The golf carts the Staff uses sound like a Fire alarm going off every time it goes in reverse, we could hear everything and everyone through our room window. And the hallway was one giant echo, the trucks pumping every morning gave allot of noise and an afwul smell,.... Conclusion just allot of noise everywhere. Also the breakfast was not very good and the same everyday, the rooms and sheets, towels where not very clean most of the staff was friendly and helpfull tho. Overall we sadly did not enjoy our stay here.
