Chivapuri Beach Resort

沙灘很臟，退潮的時候海灘上超級多垃圾，海里很多礁石，不適合游泳，酒店基本沒什麼服務，早餐也沒什麼選擇。 和朋友在booking上定的同樣的Junior suite，但我們在攜程訂的同款房型被降級成了小了一半的大床房，酒店海美其名曰給的小房間是海景房，我們在攜程付的價格已經賺到了。最後攜程協商沒成功，但是給了一百塊補償優惠券。 總之極其不推薦這個酒店

不錯的地方

Very nice and relaxed location in the very south of Koh Chang with a nice pool. Beach is great, swimming however is not so easy due to the very shallow coast and some rocks. Kayaks can easily be rented at the resort and are free of charge for 1 hour. The breakfast buffet was rich and good. Nice coffee machine with excellent (!) coffee and a variety of coffee options – the machine has sometimes its ‘own will’ though. Staff was superb: little shy in the beginning, however extremely helpful and friendly – even on challenging topics. Thanks to Natty and the complete Shivapuri team.

We paid approx. 300 USD for staying at this place for a romantic getaway and we were hugely disappointed. After check-in we found out that the remote for the the air conditioning wasn't working. Staff came back to the room countless times over the next hours to fix the issue without being able to do so. Eventually, they managed to turn the aircon on but they took away the remote claiming they would return it straight away. After another couple of hours, the room was freezing and we had no way to turn the aircon on. This is when we found out that there was not even hot water in the shower or tub. We walked once again to the reception (no telephone in the room, despite the hefty room rate) to ask for assistance and literally waited hours for someone to come in and fix it. At that point, we were forced to cancel our reservation for dinner at a restaurant to wait for the staff to fix everything. It was already late when they finally managed to fix the problem and have the working remote for the aircon back. In consideration of all the inconveniences suffered, I contacted the hotel manager by e-mail asking for compensation. The only answer I got was "Happy holidays, we will fix things for you". On the following day, when we went back to our room after spending the day on the island we found another surprise: again, we didn't have hot water in the room! We walked for the millionth time to the reception and again they sent staff to fix it. In the meantime, also the TV stopped working. I wrote to the manager asking officially for a refund complaining about the extreme poor service we had had at their hotel but they refused any kind of compensation. Please be aware that once they have your money, there will be 0 chance to have it back in case something doesn't turn out as expected. Do yourself a favour and book a hostel instead, you will get a better experience than the one you will get at this scammy place.

First let me say that these are our opinions and each person has something that is important to them and not to others. This was our experience. We flew into Bangkok airport as we had an event to attend in Pattaya than went back to Bangkok before heading to the resort. It was less expensive for us to hire a private driver to take us to the resort on Koh Chang than it was to fly. We found out that there was a air strip on Koh Chang but they can charge whatever they want as there is only one airline that goes there. So we opted to drive, a 6 hour journey, which included a ferry ride over to the island and taken directly to the resort. Our thought was we could sleep and see the landscape on the way. It really wasn't bad there and back. So thankful that we didn't have to deal with a taxi once we were on the island. In the beginning when getting onto the island we were on a normal road, but that change to a very narrow, winding and steep road which turned into a one lane road, then to a gravel road and finally a dusty bumpy road. So don't worry, you are headed in the right direction. I have to say when we first drove up to the resort, I was a little hesitant. This is a small resort. The reception area is wide open (no walls) area with wooden benches with a few throw pillows here and there. The one reception person was kind and friendly, but the other not so much. I would say this was the only unfriendly person we met the entire time at the resort and she was only there for a few days and then was gone. We arrive around noon and were told check in wasn't until 3, I believe, but we did get into our room earlier then they said which was nice after a 6 hour drive. The room was old and tired but spacious. There are maybe a dozen little buildings that had one room up and one room down. I heard there were a few rooms that had two bedrooms for families. We were in a back building on the top floor. The windows on the back of the room lookout onto the area they lay all their debris. Wasn't a nice thing to look at that is for sure. We just kept the blinds closed. When you walked up the steps there as a balcony area with a sliding glass door, but also had a normal door to enter as well. The balcony area had a bench seat along the one area to sit and one chair was provided along with a laundry rack. Some of the wood on the balcony needs replaced as it looked like it was rotten. We also asked for another chair to sit on and was told it was being repaired. Some of the other buildings had chairs and loungers along with big pillows for their bench (these were all the buildings in the front). It would have been nice to have another chair so we could have sat outside like others. Inside the building, there as a king size bed, desk area (which also had a large mirror with a hair dryer (in the desk drawer) as this is where you had to dry your hair as there was no plug in the bathroom, a kettle that made hot water, a wardrobe cabinet, a single bed type thing, I guess

Nice big room, lots of space, big bathroom and everything you need. Terrace with sunbed, view of the garden, pool and the sea beyond. Unique breakfast buffet. Enough beach chairs. The resort is remote, so quiet (depending on guests nearby) and away from the party zone. But there are also bars with music. Even without transport, you can do a lot on foot or take a songthaew to another part of the island. The nearest Siam Kitchen is highly recommended, as are the other restaurants nearby. Taxis rarely drive to the hotel. The most direct route is along the beach, which means you have to carry your luggage. The further route is along a sandy track. I (69, with rolling suitcase) reached my physical limits. I think the hotel should take care of transport to and from the accommodation. I was promised transport for the way back. Only at the last moment was I driven there in a motorbike transporter, where my bus was already waiting. The paint in the room was peeling off in various places. The lamps by the mirror were dusty and the fly screens and windows in the bathroom were dirty. The shower head is mounted high up, cannot be adjusted and has not been descaled for a long time. Lukewarm water only flows irregularly. The room was very noisy (trampling from above). The hotel claims to be sustainable, but changes the towels daily. At least there is free mineral water in glass bottles. It was only when I checked in that I noticed that I (traveling alone) had paid for an extra bed when booking that I did not need. I asked for a refund of the overpaid amount of 3400 Baht. The answer: We never refund anything. So, I had paid for a service that the hotel did not have to provide. The receptionist replied that she could put an extra bed in my room if I wanted. Since I found direct transport to the airport, I was able to extend my stay at the Chivapuri by 2 nights. I paid 11,000 baht directly at the reception. Out of curiosity, I noticed that the exact same booking on the hotel website would have cost only 9,640 baht. I asked for a refund of the difference. Answer: Management sets the prices. So, I wrote an explanatory email to the Managing Director Ms. Suporn Purahong. The evening before my departure, I was promised that the hotel would refund 3,200 baht via Agoda. Agoda has been trying to contact the hotel for days now, without success. I feel ripped off and will definitely not be a guest at this hotel again. I cannot recommend the Chivapuri Resort unless you don't mind not getting refunds for any errors or changes.
