Bottom line is that this little resort is no longer meeting the minimum standards you would expect for the prices they charge. The location is brilliant for those who enjoy the attraction of a magnificent, quiet island beach. However, the resort itself has been neglected, messy and is ran down. Our bungalow was not more than a primitive, badly maintained shack. That by itself is no issue for those who don’t mind simple basics, but the issue is that the prices are excessively expensive for the comfort you get. It’s a pity, because with some basic improvements, the place has potential.

Ich kann die zum Teil schlechten Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen. Evtl. gab es seit 2017 umfangreiche Renovierungen, wobei einige Fotos schon dem aktuellen Stand entsprechen. Wir sind viel gereist und auch kritisch in der Bewertung. Wir haben uns im Vorfeld darauf eingestellt, dass wir mehr oder weniger direkt am Stand leben. Und genauso war es. Wir setzten unseren Fuß aus unserem Bungalow (1. Reihe - genial!) und wir waren da! Weißer Pudersand und gleich Strandliegen unter schattigen Bäumen. Die viel gelobten Sonnenuntergänge sind noch genauso schön - manches ändert sich glücklicherweise nie. Natürlich erwarteten wir keinen gehobenen Komfort. Die Bunglows wurden aber täglich gründlich gereinigt und sind sehr sauber. Die Dusche hatte Warmwasser und die Betten waren sehr bequem. Das Wlan funktionierte gut und zuverlässig. Die Besitzer sind sehr daran interessiert, dass es ihren Gästen gut geht. Das Resort hat ein gutes Restaurant, das Frühstück wurde liebevoll zubereitet und es gibt einen genialen Kaffee. Weitere Restaurants sind direkt am Strand und gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Das Meer ist bei Ebbe etwas weit weg und der Strand ist zum Meer hin dunkel. Dadurch wirkt leider auch das Wasser eher dunkel und nicht ganz so hell und einladend wie wir es uns erhofft haben. Die Speedbootanreise ist je nach Wellengang eine Herausforderung. Aber man ist nach 30 Minuten da. Wir haben viele kenengelernt, die immer wieder kommen, das spricht für Koh Phayam. Vielleicht ein Geheimtipp, aber nicht weiter sagen.
